  1. Mike, have a chat with Tom about the new Jeanneau 585. I'm considering it and personally think it's a) better looking, better made and c) should handle better (IMHO). But what do I know? Terry.
  2. I'm really surprised to hear of your problems, Alun. As you know, I've never had any problems with my 3500C and like them so much, I've bought a larger, dual function model. Could be it was just a Friday night model and needs replacing rather than repairing. Terry.
  3. I could easily be tempted, Alun. I'll speak to you when you finish school. Terry.
  4. Bond shooting range. Quite fun James Bond 007 Terry
  5. Sounds like a red letter day for you, Jack. Much different from your usual conservation conscious methods. Perhaps the fish stocks of the English Channel had better look to their safety. Terry.
  6. Thanx for your good wishes, chaps. I knew I should have gone fishing. My birthday started on Saturday night with a gathering of family and friends at the Oxford Loch Fyne restaurant. During the afternoon, I had started to feel rough and by the time we reached the restaurant, was suffering agonising stomach cramps. First course of a very good fish soup down the hatch, I have to make a sudden dash for the loo where the Loch Fyne get their wares back. And this continued every half hour until 05.00 of my birthday morning. Needless to say, I have had a pretty abstemious birthday as regards food and drink. Oh, well, it's good to reach 60 as the alternative is nowhere near as much fun! Terry.
  7. Good luck to everyone; with all the interest, it can't fail to be a success. While you're all enjoying yourselves yanking out all those prize winning fish, I'll be enduring my birthday celebrations in the bosom of my family and friends. Have fun. Terry.

    New Mould

As a matter of interest, Rich, what make of mould is it? I never seem to be able to co-ordinate meeting up with you and my supply of lead so would like to do some of my own. Terry.
  9. Thanks for the nudge, Paul, I've downloaded it and all seems well at present. Several new features to get used to. Terry.
  10. Hi, Phil, welcome aboard; you'll get as much from your membership as you will from a new boat, and it's cheaper! Nice fish, Simon. By the way, looking at the stretch in your arm and the fact that I can see the camera in the fishes eye, it must be all of 2lb. Terry.

    Help

Which is where the split screen setting comes into it's own. I picked up on that one at the boat show this year from the Lowrance expert, very good advice. Terry.
  12. Worked for me but I had to crank the speakers right up. Good promo. Terry.

    Help

On my garmin 250 fishfinder, I use a split screen display and have 50mhz on one screen and 200mhz on the other, thus giving the best of both worlds (I believe, waiting to be told differently). I don't know if you can do this on a combined unit. Terry.
  14. Amazing but not totally unexpected otherwise we wouldn't spend so much time on here. Members who work so hard to make the site what it is and the Webmaster for his creation, take a well deserved pat on the back. Terry
  15. No but you can get it here on ebay for
  16. 22580 and bored now. Terry.
  17. 12840. I think I'm going blind! Terry.
  18. Echo sounder collected and thanks very much, Charlie. I'll let you know if it's working in due course, meanwhile I'm revelling in times past when we used to catch plaice to order. Terry.
  19. Being a good mate, if it's any help, I'll swop places. Terry.
  20. Thanks to Martin for organising, the Club for subsidising and Dave Harris of Shellbay Watersports, we now have three more members with the coveted RYA Level Two certificate in their paws. Les Lawrence, Alan McAvoy and myself spent a very wet and windy weekend in Dave's RIB thrashing around in and out of Poole harbour. I don't know about the others but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, despite the weather, and learned a lot. I feel so inspired, I think I may go further on the sceme just for the interests sake and the challenge. Anyone else interested? I, like Charlie, went armed with a camera but was too windy, like the weather, to take it out in those conditions. So, no evidence but a contented glow of satisfaction. Thanks to everyone for their organsisational input and the Club for sponsoring a worthwhile course. Terry.
  21. I've obviously been singled out for this tardy treatment. Never mind, I've got my rod ready for the whiting invasion when I hope it will be put to good use. Terry.

    Morning All

Anybody won yet. Are congratulations and a strait jacket going to be issued simultaneously. Unless it's Rich; who would know? Terry.
  23. Hey, guess what turned up on the doorstep this morning? My brand new replacement Fladen Solid C 10-20lb rod. I suddenly remembered my correspondence with YYS and realised no rod had been forthcoming. I gave them a little nudge and here it is. I really should flag these things up for chasing. Alls well that ends well. Terry.

    B & B

Thanks for that comprehensive list, Charlie. As it happens, Les L. has kindly offered accommodation and he is taking the course as well, which is convenient. However, this is an ongoing requirement as I would like to come down for more than one day at a time so your list will prove invaluable. Terry.

    B & B

I'm coming down this weekend to do the RYA course and have suddenly realised that I will need a B & B for Saturday night. I have to catch the early ferry from Sandbanks so something Poole area preferred so, before I go the Google way, does anyone have any ideas of good, reasonable accommodation in the area? Terry.
