  1. I only have 4 people interested at present so I don't think that will constitute a great discount. If there is anyone else who wants one ready for the whiting, let your intentions be known. I was waiting until the end of the competition before ordering in case one of you won. I'm away in Scotland partridge shooting and salmon fishing until Wednesday evening so will check again then. Terry.
  2. Oh! My apologies to Christchurch. It just seemed that the most recent ones all came from that area. And, upon consideration, Poole is a damn sight bigger than Christchurch and has many more boats to target. Terry.
  3. Mind you, Tom, with all the news items recently about thefts from Cristchurch, I believe I would think twice before putting a new boat on a mooring there. But your point is well made and timely. Although I have done a course on a lovely smooth inland reservoir, mainly geared towards sailing safety boat, I am taking the course offered by the club to ensure I'm up to speed on the briny. It's all very different with tides and waves, not to mention navigation. On a reservoir, if you go far enough in the any direction, you strike land. Terry.
  4. I'm getting desperate. Had to go and catch some trout yesterday evening just to retain my sanity. How long can this wind last? I'm still talking weather here. On the plus side, we have a supply of trout fillets in the freezer. Terry.
  5. If we are talking maggots, just nick the hook through the skin where it looks as if there are two eyes, that way it will stay alive and wriggle enticingly. Well, enticing to a fish, anyway. Terry.
  6. Makes me feel quite smug about living in Oxfordshire! I have rooms available on short term lets at reasonable cost. Book early! Terry.
  7. I would have thought a more realistic bag limit would be a certain number of fish per person, per day. This would, I imagine, be more acceptable than 2 fish per person, irrespective of the number of days spent fishing. Surely the proposed legislation would only discourage visiting anglers from spending too much time in the area, thus reducing income to the Bailliwick. It would also, as mentioned previously, discourage some people from going at all.
  8. Now that is good news........and I don't snore.........fart occassionally and discretely.......no snoring! Terry.
  9. Welcome back. Good break and are you living on the street? Terry. p.s. Dilys likes the 585.
  10. That's great, my friend, I really appreciate it. Let me have a p.m. of your address and I'll arrange to collect it next time I'm down, which will be as soon as the weather improves and I can arrange a crew. Terry.
  11. Reg, you have a pm Terry

Terry.
  13. Reg, when is it you and your mates are coming down to show us how it's done? I'm planning to come down and play for 2 or 3 days. Terry.
  14. I would certainly be interested, if only for the nostalgia value, it could go on the dinghy. How much would you like for it? Terry.
  15. Congrats on your new acquisition. You won't be wanting to out on any old warriors in future, I can see. I hope you have as much fun and success as you did with the last one, but with room to turn around. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the water. Terry.
  16. I had one like that stolen off my boat Kara-Sea when she was on her mooring in Holes Bay about 30 years ago. I hereby lay claim to it! Terry.
  17. Thank goodness for that! I thought I was going to have to start again. Terry.
  18. I think the details Sam gave were for me, Duncan, as I asked for details for a week's mooring. Thanks, Sam. Terry.
  19. Thank you, Sam, that may be an option I hadn't considered before. Who do I contact? Terry.
  20. Where are you, Jimbob, when we need you? Terry.
  21. Damn, I missed an opportunity there! Terry.
  22. With reference to Gordon's first item in the thread, 'Launch at 6.30 and decided to check ot the newly installed bilge pump and live bait tank, both worked perfectlyand with a lovely anti clock wise flow'. Now I thought I had this sorted that the mackerel swim anticlockwise so the water goes clockwise. If I've got this wrong, that explains a lot. Can someone give me the difinitive answer to this please. Terry.
  23. Get yourself to Canada and get one of their salt water salmon trolling outfits. I've had one for about 25 years, complete with a beautiful centrepin reel. They use a trolling vane to keep it down and steady with a long trace. Terry.
  24. Presumably that's the berthing actually on the quay, up to fishermans dock or slip or whatever. So what happens in the summer there, is it casual berthing? I would be quite interested in something for a week so what would it cost, Sam. I'm prepared to make allowances for the staff! Terry.
  25. I'd heard Bernard and Herbert had spent a night in jail after too much sherbet. Terry.
