  1. Conjunctivitis.com A site for sore eyes There has been an increase in crime in multistorey carparks That's wrong on so many levels.
  2. No report except I got my foot trapped on launch and lost my left rod when the wave dumped me sideways. Was cold all the way to the ledge, not a lot for me, just tiny whiting Id say it beats working but I lost
  3. Making the most of the window tomorrow and having a play with my ff/gps humminbird of Southbourne and Hengistbury head. I'll be on ch 6 if anyone's around and feel free to pm me your prized and guarded numbers Doubt there will be anything to report fishwise but I'll post either way. Lofty

    Tide question

That's what I mean. The tide was way out. Nearly to the channel. And on Sandbanks beach you could walk around the ends of the groins . ? Yesterday
  5. According to my tide tidal planner it wasn't such a big tide yesterday but when I drove down to Sandbanks the harbour looked nearly empty? Is this because of the cold weather conditions and the prevailing wind? Lofty
  6. For your information http://www.dorset.police.uk/Default.aspx?page=2984
  7. Where are you based James? You get about a bit!
  8. Brian always kisses his kayak when arriving back on land. Strange!
  9. Great pics and report. Enjoyed that. Lofty
  10. Decided to test the new Humminbird today with some marks a chum gave me Bloody cold but we thought we could risk the breakers and the swell In another thread peeps have been quite negative about crates for windage. This is mine ready for launch and would imo make little impact I didnt manage much more than three tiddler whiting Geordie Brian was heading for a blank but pulled it out of the bag with a nice Plaice We drifted around for a bit but no more fish today We both lost some tackle on a snaggy mark, probably on old nets then we headed back in to calmer seas The tarpon 120 is a bloody nice yak if anyone is thinking about getting one This is where my crate is fantastic, carrying my gear to the car Geordie Brians patent pending gear washing service Enjoy the little things
  11. Looks like some small fish but a good watch
  12. I know all you salty sea dogs can tie these in your sleep but I found this site to be really easy to follow http://www.animatedknots.com/improvedclinc...imatedknots.com Yaaar!

  14. Cheers Mike. Conditions are the utmost consideration, we have enough safety kit to sink our kayaks, but we also called up Portland pre launch and on landing back so the coastguard new we were there. Not sure I'll be venturing out now until the fishing picks up, although if the weather improves in Feb I might just get out for a paddle.
  15. Myself and Geordie Brian launched tonight from Durley chine and fished Durley rocks from 6-10 Hammered by small Whiting and Pouting but had a few bigger ones to keep.
  16. Great write up and photos of last years pre Christmas meet 98-101 with good mentions of Pbsbac and the rnli My old camouflaged kayak must have been brilliant because you can't see me anywhere
  17. It was a rough all over. I checked because I've been told that flounders are rough behind the head so I checked but it was uniformly sandpapery( new word), hence the post for my species list Cheers for all input Lofty
  18. Launched this morning at Southbourne to calm sea but cold northerly Taking advice from Alun decided the tide and north wind would be too much to get 3-4 miles along the ledge so stayed around Southbourne . Pinned to bits but also had this small flatty Is it a small flounder or a dab? Even though the fishing was poor it was great to be out today
  19. Cheers Rob Very useful . Do you have any numbers that mark the course of it? Maybe hh end and iow end? Cheers Lofty
  20. Myself and Si are out Friday as there is a weather window. We will launch our kayaks from Southbourne beach about 8.30 and intend to take the flood down to Christchurch ledge. Si has a humminbird 385 gps combo so it would be great if someone has some numbers to input just to know we're on the ledge. I'm presuming it runs out from Hengistbury head . We then intend to take the ebb back. LW HW LW 05:57 11:20 18:19 0.8

    Wanted

I'm looking for a good price on a humminbird 385ci or garmin451s, or the older humminbird 383. Does any member of our forum have any good contacts with marine electrical gear suppliers? Best I can get the 385 with transducer is 550.
  24. So far magic and xc are tuesday , weds For a paddle out
  25. When to fold em, when to walk away, when to run Loaded up last night for a first light launch from Southbourne . As you know I've had a weather eye on a window and the forecast came good Unfortunately so did the predicted swell. Looking from the cliffs it looked doable but the waves were about 5 feet and constant I set up on the beach and counted the sets . Southbourne is deep straight off the beach and it's not a great idea to be dumped on launch. I remember Ken getting a soaking in the summer and it was not easy for him recovering his gear. I was watching like Bodie Zaffa when Brian ( Geordie) joined me on the beach. We ummmed.... We ahhhhed.........we saw sense and hauled back up the hill. This is as close as Lofty 4 got to a Southbourne launch today
