Fantastic achievement in the timescale considering you both have day jobs. Well done guys, good luck with the launch. Gordon H

I did a 360 and counted an amazing 69 boats within sight of our position and most of them seemed to be catching cod. I think Enticer must have been the only boat out there that didn't catch one, but I'm looking forward to Whiting for tea tomorrow night. Many thanks to Gordon for the trip out and providing the bacon sarnies and this time I cant blame Fugazi for scaring all the fish away! Gordon H

I'm looking forward to a trip out on Enticer tomorrow thanks to Gordon stepping in while Fugazi was out of action. I didn't know when I arranged Sunday with Gordon how long it would take to sort things out, but the good news is that after an afternoons work yesterday replacing brake shoes on the trailer and a mornings work today fixing the power trim Fugazi is serviceable again. See you out there guys! Gordon H

If anyone needs crew for Sunday I'm boatless at the moment, unless I sort out the problems on Saturday. Gordon H

Good point Jim, but just to make sure I by-passed the trim switch using the common power feed to it and it still only worked on the down trim. Thanks Gordon H

Thanks Charlie, Armed with the wiring diagram that Dave put on as a link yesteday I was able to establish very quickly with my multimeter that the trim switch is fine. So the fault is somewhere in the blue/white lead between the control box and the engine. I suspect its a corrosion problem in a connector at the engine end, but due to the weather today, I'll leave it for a dry day to lift off the engine cover and sort it out. Gordon H

My power trim is only working in one direction (down) when using the control box rocker switch, it works fine in both directions using the cowl mounted switch. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2004 Mercury 75HP? or can help with diagnosing if my control lever power trim switch is U/S? There are 5 pins in the control box electrical connector marked A - E which one is the trim up pin? Gordon H

Just thought I'd give a bit of feed back on the effectiveness of the hub flush kit that I fitted back in February. Dismantled the brakes and bearings today for the first time since installation and found after washing everything with "Muck Off" motor cycle cleaner it was all like new. Absolutely brilliant, just need to replace the brake shoes due to 4 years wear and tear, but all good to re-assemble when I get the new ones. If anybody

Did anyone see the good news this week about the revival of cod stocks in the North Sea? Apparently they are just "out there waiting to be caught" and because of public outcry about dumping fish the quota is being increase by 11% to prevent it. There was even talk about voluntary limits being imposed and managed by the commercial fleet themselves who then would police it as part of the overall conservation strategy. If the part about the industry policing itself is really true, no one needs to worry about bag limits. They

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?' Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister. Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government. We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People. The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we will call him the Future. Now think about that and see if it makes sense.' So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said. Later that night,! he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy. So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy says to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now. ' The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.' The little boy replies, 'The prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep s***.

Alun, Never weighed them, but we had 2 very large ones that I would estimate to be close to the 3lb mark, both easily managed large squid cod baits on size 6.0 pennels. Gordon

Chris and I launched Fugazi at Lymington and looking at the wind strength decided to turn left at Jack in the Basket and head for West Lepe buoy. A good decision it turned out as most of the boats that went out past the Needles ended up coming back into the Solent. Back at the slip those we spoke to had all managed to find the codling but not us. However, we did find a location for monster Trisopterus luscus later in the day and I'm now thinking of targeting these in the next specimen competition. Gordon H

Just remind me when is this competition? Gordon H

I've been sea fishing since I was a nipper, but only caught my first trigger fish a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm all fired up to go after haddock, herring and squid this winter as these are also species I've never caught. Gordon H
