Thought I would share my day with you all and put a Bank Holiday smile on your faces! Today in Gosport I decided to swap over trailers as my Alaska 500 is sitting on a Bramber 22ft trailer and I had just got a 18ft hayling trailer to do the job! So as my Father in Law is staying with us at the moment I decided to give him a day by the sea. He is from Siberia and speaks only a few words of English but is a great drinking buddy! So we pushed the new trailer down the Gosport Angling slipway and I gave my father in law a large block of wood to put behind the wheel. I then drove the trailered boat down the other side of the slipway. Nowt funny you're thinkin? I got out and started to ease the boat off the trailer when I got a tap on my shoulder. I looked round and my father in law shrugged his shoulders and said "trailer neyetto" which roughly translated means no trailer? He had put the block of wood under the jockey wheel and a wave had washed up and the trailer was now at the bottom of the slipway in about 3m of water! 4hrs later and with the tide retreating I managed to get her back in my new neoprene chesties watched by quite a large congregating following on the beach. So if you see some idiot watching his new trailor disappearing down Gosport slipway on "You've been framed" think of me! Best bit....the new trailer doesn't fit!!!!! Anyone want to buy a new trailer described above now well hosed and washed down with one useless owner? Have a great Bank Holiday everyone!

Hi Everybody, Just joined the club and as my Arvor is currently in Gosport was wondering if any member can give any advice as to where to keep her in and around Poole? I am coming down from Basingstoke so anything Poole and towards the Bournemouth direction would be cool. I will be down over the weekend to meet Tom Bettle at his marina and would like to look at any alternatives or any "top secret" cheaper options? Preferably not so far up the river to be moored in Salisbury! Thanks in advance for any help. David
-
How awesome to get such a welcome and thanks to all! I will definately try to get down for the May meet and will visit TB at the weekend to view his marina! If any other members have suggestions as to where to keep the new Arvor then please feel free to PM me. Once again thanks to all who have posted so far and yes this club already feels pretty special! If the fishing and banter is as good then we are in for a brilliant season! All the best to everyone and may your rods be a bouncin!

21.5ft Wilson Flyer with Enclosed Wheelhouse!
Member Removed replied to Member Removed's topic in Swap and Shop
Thanks for that Tom will do! Also thanks for all your help to date and hope I can help you out one day! Don't forget I am in IT and have one of the South's largest Laptop and PC repair facilities. We can replace screens, hinges, hard drives, dvd's, the rare graphics chip resolder as we have an airstation and just about any other repair you can think of!!! -
Up for sale due to the purchase of a bigger boat is my much loved and much improved Wilson Flyer with the rare enclosed wheelhouse. This boat was previously owned by a well known commercial angler on the South Coast and has therefore been reinforced and has had modifications including marine grade windows with stainless bolts and a commercial strengthened floor with extra bouyancy added. The engine is regularly serviced by Fairweather marine and has been described as the "sweetest running 90hp Mercury" he has seen. Never let us down to date. She is in great used condition and with all my marks on the gps and tracker someone will now have years of experience on their side! An extremely comfortable and stable fishing platform with acres of space for you and your mates. We have enjoyed this boat so much that we have now invested in a new larger boat for our group and this can be seen as she is only four berths away. The boat is currently on a brilliant much sought after berth in Gosport and this can be transferred at the new owners request. Literally 1 minute walk from the car which is awesome when you are loaded up with kit! There will be loads of extra bits on the boat which we haven't listed eg; extra new prop + fishing kit + oils / lubricants / fuses / connectors / boxes ...etc etc So, if you are after a reliable safe fast fishing boat with everything ready to go for the season then give me a call or PM me for photos. Hi, The name is David! The username comes from a rather embarrasing fishing trip and the effects of a very heavy curry and beer session! Based in Basingstoke and had my own boat for the last four years. Started with an Alaska 500 which I still keep trailered at Gosport and District Angling Club. Then bought a Wilson 21.5ft commercial build with wheelhouse and 90hp Mercury and ran this for two years. Got the bug fully and now have an Arvor 215as with 100hp Diesel inboard. Love my fishing and been going since I was six. I am a member of Gosport and Lymington DAC and enjoy the friendly banter on the club trips. Having spoken with Tom Bettle on a techy question about my Arvor we ended up talking for half an hour about the club and the area! Hence now why I'm on this site lol! Thanks mate! Pity we didn't speak the week before as I drove the boat up from Poole to Gosport and could have saved myself

Thanks for all your support. To anyone who is interested we have to film over 2 days on the 18th and 19th of March but if we know in advance we may be able to change those days slightly if we get permission from our tutor. If you think you want to help either contact me directly through my contact detail in the 1st message or through Paul Jennings, club chairman. Thank you again Jack

Hi, My names Jack Simmons and i am a Television Production student from Bournemouth University. I'm looking to make a film about a fisherman or woman for a assignment as part of my course. My task is to create a short documentary about someone from the Bournemouth area based on the word 'portrait'. I would like to be able to film someone who passionately enjoys fishing as a hobby (or even competitively or a career). I would hope that the film would show viewers an insight into what offshore fishing actually involves and why you enjoy it so much. The film will only be used for this assignment as as part of my groups and my show-reels (on YouTube) although my tutor will be entering the best films from my year into a competition which if it won would be shown on ITV1. If anyone is interested or knows anyone else who may be interested in helping me please let me know. You can reply to this message, message me on here or email me directly at jacksimmons77@hotmail.co.uk. Thank you. Jack Simmons Bournemouth University Television Production

This is the greasing nut Dave mentioned Here I can highly reccomend it as the sealing nut on the e-tech is rubbish and that's where the water gets sucked in to start off the problems. The best way to lubricate the inside of the cable is to completely remove it from the boat and make up one of these, 19mm plumbing pipe - valve sikaflexed in. squirt wurth spray grease inside the tube assemble and pressurize through. This one here, is cleaning out the old grease with petrol, I made the mistake of using waterproof grease thinned with white spirit to lube the cable, the grease thickened over time and started getting sticky, wurth spray grease should be ok I would think.
