I recently took my warrior 165 and engine for a service. picked the boat up and on the way back to where we store it we went under a low railway bridge and i heard a snapping noise. when we pulled over and looked i realised that i had forgotten to put the long VHF aerial down therefore snapping off about a foot of it off. What i am trying to find out is if it will still work ok and send and recieve signals. thanks guys

Thanks Jim Will report anything interesting,,,been out on charter boats off and on over the years. Flying Fisherman is my first boat and I am really looking forward to getting some serious fishing in. The previous owner left his marks in the satnav and I've taken note of the ones on the club site,so plenty to go at. Derek

First of all folks.....this is a first for me.....never posted anything before other than in a letterbox or the post office. Next...thanks you for the warm welcome when I joined. Not caught a fish from my boat yet this year. Only went out for a couple of hours in June and been a bit committed with work and other stuff. The only time that I was free the weather was crap! Anyway, this weekend looks to be good and I can't work another week without catching a few....don't care what species. I am coming down from Swindon on Friday morning and staying over until possibly Sunday. I will slip the boat (Flying Fisherman) at Cobbs Quay and take a temp.birth. Will fill the boat up with rag, squid and tackle and probably run out to pick up some Macas for bait...might even do a night or evening session and then wing it for the rest of the weekend. Have not got any crew.... Mrs. A's not too keen on the motion on the ocean so if anyone fancies a trip out please give me a call on 07885 713325. I have a radio licence but not got my digital radio yet so have not got an MMSI number. So if you are out in the next few days and would like to chat just call on 16. Forgive me if I don't come back first time as I will be pulling the 'biguns' in and dare not let go of the rods. Derek

Hi All, I have purposely left this post until now for a reason, which will become apparent. Self and Dave (crew) went out on Thursday for a maccy bashing session, as my local were having a charity barbecue in aid of "Donna's Dream House" which is a house in Blackpool for terminally ill children to take a holiday there away from their everyday troubles free of charge. Some of you may have seen the programme on TV a while back entitled The Secret Millionaire. We set off for Beaumaris but, halfway there I realised I had left the waders at home , so a change of venue was quickly arranged and we set for Caernarfon, where Chris Seddon will launch and retrieve you for a small sum. In the water for 9am and headed off for Caernarfon bar in search of the mackerel but, they weren't playing. Only single maccies were coming up, anyway we stuck it out until around 4pm with about 50 fish on board. The maccies went down a treat and with the help of local businesses and shops the maccies and tombola/raffle and name cards, we raised a total of

Hi Guys, As your not having a meeting proper this Thursday, I will give it a miss on two counts. :1, The weather looks OK in my neck of the woods so fishing first thing Friday morning, BBC Weather and Accuweather both giving 5-6mph w/nw. 2, FPO having trouble getting cover for looking after her Matriarch, so September it is. Hopefully my other half will be free to travel and there will be a meeting proper then. Tight lines all, Terry

Hi All, I hope to be at your next meeting on 6th August, and was wondering if any of you local guys know of a decent B&B in the area for the night? I have asked my wife if she cares to accompany me so, it will have to be somewhere you would stop the night yourselves. Any help would be appreciated Tight Lines Terry.

I bought the boat a little over 2 months ago. having had a pretty good marine guy look at it I agreed that it was untidy but usable. the plan was to Tow it up to Anglesey to have a friend fit a 40hp and new steering. I then intended to use it as it was until next year then completely strip it, paint and fit with the electrics. Never gonna happen now While it was in storage I stripped out the old deck boards, sanded down and re painted the deck. Built a new steering helm and temp fitted to find a decent position and pre drilled this into the bulkhead. After that it enabled me to fit the marine compass on top and wire it up with an internal LED for night time. I then repaired/filled old screw holes in the cabin roof and temp fitted my new Marine stainless radar arch. Also I removed every single nut bolt and screw and replaced them with marine grade alternatives. Before sanding down (I was not going to until next year) I set about positioning and drilling out the spots where my flush fitting rod holders and rod storage tubes would go, fitted and removed my fire extinguisher. Fitted the radio position, GPS and fish finder screens and made sure no crossover would occur on any wiring. Next I made my own safety throw lines (fear not I am known for them) and found positions to fit 4 at key points on my boat. went into the cabin, fitted a first aid kit, timber framed for my ice-tec coolbox and framed for a removable single burner stove. All good? nope, not on your life actually because in a shear moment of utter madness I took a belt sander and started to prep the outer cabin. There lies the mischief. I can not use the boat now until I have painted the bloody thing, purely because while it is good and ready and kitted out beyond what I would need for safety, the boat looks a complete mess. Full of filled patches and sanded down to the GRP. Smooth as a babies backside, but I cannot afford the paint to damn well finish it. I am a class fool and no mistake because now I have started, I cannot stop One clever bit that I am pretty proud of. I had someone give me an NS25 fishfinder GPS unit. while wiring it all up I blew an internal fuse and was told it had had it. gutted to be sure. Then another customer offered me the same unit which I fitted. A mate was using a Magnifying glas to find the fuse on the ruined one and bingo, he spotted it. quick bit of micro soldering and hey presto I now have two units, one for the fishfinder and one for the GPS. Now that was one lucky break!

hi, the unfortunate weymouth boat meet is the main reason I do not spend so much time there and it would have been nice to meet up. Tom, I know exactly where you are coming from. hopefully this site, and especially the club will give me exactly what I am looking for, experienced guys willing to help and hopefully some of my gear being tried out by decent anglers. mainly though it would be nice to be out and about on my boat and have people close by or in the area to chat to and bounce ideas off.
-
Hi Tom, I am assuming it will be easier to ask a question on here and get a decent answer unlike the other site never had chance to get to your Chandlers this week, spent the day in hosptital in London and was not particularly in the mood. Woody, if I get the boat ready by the September boat comp do you fancy jumping in? I will see you tonight anyway unless is rains hard.
-
exactly what I intend to do Rob, I think I sponsored one of your comps a couple of years ago. Partly that is, nothing special. The whole point is to grab some info for a safe time on the boat, and I would rather do that in the flesh. Not too sure if it's still on but I think I may be on a boat with Tom Beattle in a couple of weeks.

Hi, I was meaning to join this site a year or so ago. Just got a new boat (new to me) 15ft so not massive, I reckon it will be ready by late september if i pull my finger out and will be launching it in Poole harbour. I doubt I will take it anywhere other than Poole until next year so I have time to get used to it. not much boating experience other than kayaks but I am taking it pretty easy and equiping the boat pretty well before I use it. Rigs are covered pretty much mind!

Hi, In reply to Adams Post, I dont think I can add very much. The few times I have been boat fishing , in the North sea, I have been seasick, which is annoying to say the least, cos I love fresh fish and I love the sport, which is why I have been a coarse angler for 50 years. Now I have retired to Poole, I would like to have the chance to be able to sea fish on a regular basis. I am very active, love DIY ( had to, to afford a house down here :-) ) can turn my hand to most things, am a good conversationalist, good (some say wicked)sense of humour, and a quick and eager learner. Hope that gives you a bit more of an insight into this minnow bashing yorkshireman , and dont believe everything you hear. as some of us are nearly human. Look forward to hearing from you. Hello again everybody, Thanks for the warm welcome received at last nights meeting. After chatting to Martin , he suggested that I place this post, to see if anybody out there is willing to show an absolute novice at boating and sea fishing, a few rudimentries. I am available pretty much anytime, and at short notice if you need a hand. my aim , of course, is to get my own boat, so if you hear of anything, please let me know. Thanks for reading Mike I dont know if phone numbers are allowed so I wont risk it, but it would certainly be useful if somebody wanted to get hold of me quickly. perhaps somebody will let me know.

Thank you very much. I had a great time and nearly beat my dad.

Hi All, Got confirmation of my club membership overnight from Bob Fuller, I'm now a happy chappie. Trying to make the next meet at the "Parkstone T & L on 6th August, asked the FPO if she wanted the trip down, so might make a couple of days of it. See you all soon,
-
Hi Chaps, Sorry I can't make it this Thursday, traveling down to Christchurch on Friday morning for 6 nights and 5 days (hopefully) fishing, stopping in a caravan in St Leonards away from the hustle and bustle. Probably pop over to Poole one evening and weigh up the situation for the next time we travel down there. Terry.

Rob, application went in yesterday and I do mean to get to one of your meets in the club. Just waiting for the official application form which will be retuned on the next post. Tight lines, Terry.
