you won a unique item there, be proud of it. Not only are there some off the finest troops in the world on there (one of them is sadly dead now) the rod travelled in total 674 miles for the names, and spent 3 days on HMS Somerset in the Atlantic. well done mate.

Thats uncany!!!!!!!! I had bait in the water exactly in that spot only 6 or 7 weeks ago. I have had grouper to about 350lb from there and the photo of my mate Karl in my gallery (on here) of him with a 500lber is right there at that exact stantion of the bridge. Sanibel bridge is only 10 minutes in the boat from the house I stay in when I go to Cape Coral and is a fantastic venue. The big grouper that I had a few years ago still remains as the only fish that has pulled me down to the gunnel and I haven't been able to stand up again. Awsome!!!! Just as a side note, if you fancy a week or two in the sun catching Tarpon, sharks, redfish, permit, seatrout and a million other species of fish my mate Karl has this lovely house on the water with direct gulf access. The house comes complete with a 23 foot Polaris sport fisher that has got 150 hp 4 stroke on the back. It's fitted with plotter and fish finder and all required safety equipment. He charges around

I have a spare afternoon somewhere in the future! I am also a long way from 13st and do not have a dry suit but I would love to actually catch a fish on a kayak. I will need a biggy mind because I like to have plenty of gear.

Things like that always scare me, I am the one with blonde hair and a beard!

Zzippy, I cannot thank you, John and Helen enough mate. What Zzippy never pointed out is that originally I had that rod signed and was auctioning it on another forum for the Help for Heroes charity. It got treated like a bloody joke, I was originally offered

Hi Tom, First and foremost, once your house is cold it takes forever to warm up, therefor you must keep your heating on at all times. This applies to all central heating systems. The idea is to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the day. In the morning you will want to rise to a warm environment i.e. around 20 - 21 degrees. During the day the temperature should be around 18 - 19 degrees with the temperature increasing again to 20 - 21 degrees in the evening. The above settings obviously will be decided by your families requirements. There will be a Programmer in your system with various time settings for various times of the day this should be set accordingly. Switching your boiler off and on at different times of the day is false economy, when the boiler comes on in the evening after being switched off all day it will work overtime trying to bring your home up to temperature again, likewise the same in the morning after it has been switched off all night. I hope this helps. Regards Drew

Just had to go out on Monday, what with the sunshine and the light winds. So off I went in the inflatable around to the usual spot near H.H. groyne. However the only action was the smallest pout ever. So conceding defeat I began to drift back on the tide towards Mudeford, when I saw a large splash about 20 m away. So I cast out my feathers with a 3" lure on the end in that direction. Next thing I know I am hauling in my first ballan wrasse and my largest fish to date at 4lbs 13oz. Well according to Hugh F. W. they are only good for stock. Don't you believe it. After gutting and rinsing I lightly oiled it and baked it in foil. The tough skin then just peeled away and I could easily separate bones from creamy white flesh. So far it has made delicious fish pie and excellent fish cakes and there is still some left over in the freezer. What a difference between a blank and once again nature providing us with a lovely treat p.s. I found the taste quite pleasant -- quite sweet with just the right amount of flavour. Alan

Hi everyone, my name is Alan and am looking forward to being a member of PBSBAC. I am quite new to both seamanship and angling. I have been fishing off of Hengistbury Head out of the run in a small inflatable with a 4 hp outboard. I have had moderate success. I have also visited Poole harhour three times and caught zilch. I am 59 and recently retired so can go out during the week whenever the weather and tides are ok.Often when out I feel it would be so much more secure if other friendly boats were near by. I would also be very keen to crew for anyone else. I am very anxious to learn more about the sea, boats, fish and techniques. I have only had books as a resource so far. I look forward to meeting and hearing from other members. Thanks. Alan

No problems Craig, Would loved to have joined you on the mark....certainly sounds a goodun. You could have had some Mackerel...I did offer! Same as you I did find them difficult to get....started out with the first drop of the feathers and within one minute of starting the troll (couldn't be doing with pumping the rod up and down...too tired, so used the outboard)...Full House one on each of the four feathers. Thought this was gonna be a doddle...WRONG....took another two and half hours to get another four. SOMEONE MUST KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS am I too doing something wrong??? Thought I would then wait for you before going to Ex ray. I did not know where it was and although I could have found it (could see several boats in that area) being single handed I did not fancy trying to haul in my anchor afterwards. I tried to get you on channel 6 and thought that maybe you had given up and stopped off at the airshow and not bothered to fish. Glad you had a great weekend....perhaps catch up another time.
