Hi everyone. Thought it was worth posting a mail regarding our little open weekend on the 27/28 January (this coming weekend) We will have a selection of Zodiac Ribs on the water and importantly the new Pilot 4 fishing boat, fitted with the Honda 50. We will be running from Salterns Marine (just infront of the hotel, seaward side) If anyone is intereted, please pop down from 10.30am - 4.00pm on both days and if possible we will try to get out into the harbour for a demo. Best Regards. Pete.

For some reason logging on to the site has been a bit of a problem, I'm hoping to get it sorted very soon. But you can go to www.forumsvibe.com then go to the directory page, click on hobbies and then you can look up dinghy anglers uk site, once found save in your favourites sites. I'm sorry for this technical hitch. Tony

Hello Martin, Yes your site is very impressive and it's great to see so many members. Thanks for looking at The Dinghy Anglers uk Forum. The aim of the forum is to promote safety at sea and to encourage more anglers into the sport. The less experienced dinghy angler will find this site a place to gain knowledge from the more experienced. I have been a dinghy angler for almost forty years, and have seen, or heard of many tragic events in the dinghy angling world, you only need to log on to the site and read the story of a man who lost his son in 2004. If the forum helps in anyway to prevent this happening again, it will make the site all worth while. Many Thanks Tony

Hello all, My name is Tony I'm the site (admin) for Dinghy Anglers Uk Forum. I'd like to say hello to the Dinghy Anglers of this forum. It's been a long time since I fished at Poole, but I'm hoping to fish there again sometime this year. But until then I wish you the best for the new year, yes I know it's a bit late, but better late than never. Happy fishing and be safe. Tony

The NFA are setting up an animated photo gallery for anglers which appears through your screensaver - and it's self updating so there's new content all the time. They're looking for all types of angling photos - great photos of your best, or latest, catch; trips; fishing locations; scenic shots; anything you'd like to share! Send your hi-res photos along with your name, fish type and weight, and where it was caught, through to angling@oxigen.net and I'll let you know once the screensaver is ready. Thanks!

Reply as dictated by my local domestic management : a) Cut the cooked meat off the bone and cube it. Bag up in quantities suitable for later recooking in risotto, pies, etc. and put into freezer. c) Boil up bone and remaining meat to make base for ham and pea/ham and veg soup. I would add : d) Put soup into thermos flask and enjoy whilst sitting safely by shore/river this weekend. Richard

Thanks one and all - you've added to my determination to get out there and do it all again (I'll also try some other tablets - Stugeron weren't enough for me last time! ). Thanks again. Richard

Hi, Just registered with the site having sat here and watched it all going on for a while. Not a boat owner, mainly a shore fisherman but have been on a few charter trips and keen to go out more - which leads me to ask a question to which I probably know the answer.... Last Sunday I was out on Mistress Lynda with the Dolphins boys. I have been out on the Patch before with no problem, but anchored there on the Slates (I think that's where we were) was too much for me and I spent most of the day looking over the side using muscles I haven't used since I became allergic to excess whisky. The Dolphins folks were good to me - no taking the pss, just left me alone to get on with it. They assured me the swell that day was unusual - and when it changed around 3pm I was fine. However, I have the chance to go out again so I need to assess how unusual that swell was. If you were out there on Sunday - was that a normal sea for that area ? Inside, I know the only real answer is suck it and see - go again and see how it goes. Any views, comments or suggestions welcomed. Thanks, Fishface

Wonderful Christmas bonus, COD for christmas dinner? Well worth having the week off! Got to go out and find its big brother now though. By the way, just to remind you... that still only counts as one. Running score is Westray 4 Neo 1.

Anyone seen this months SA (January 2007 - never understood why mags do that) - saw a small piece entitled 'huge bass bomshell' (p14). The encouraging news was 2 bass caught near Isle of Wight - 19lb (shore catch) not officially recorded and a 17lb boat catch (a boat record apparently). The 19lb'er apparrently gave a good fight and as a reward ended up in the guy's freezer, not sure what happened to 17 lb'er - article doesn't say but judging by the photo of the 17lb bass taken on the shore I kinda guessing it didn't make it back into the sea either. Now as a newbie fair-weather fisherman I can only imagine what it would be like to catch a double figure bass - let alone a 19 or 17 lb'er, but if it were to happen I still dont think I could take a hammer to it - the fact that such a monster bass from 'local' waters should end up in a bloke's freezer was kinda sad! - can only think that the fish was badly injured or is it just much harder to release shore based catches? or is it regular practice to keep record catches? Charlie H

im so sorry i was unable to make your open meeting. i was looking forward to coming along, but my wife had to rush to cornwall with family problems which left me home a lone with the kids. is it ok if i attend your next meeting and hopefully sort out member ship regards bob cryer

Saw you on the way back, you obviously picked the right location. The Landau is great for 2 people, any more is a squeeze. The wash is usually fairly minimal and she is quite stable at anchor due to the hull shape.

Made it out into Poole bay for the first trip in ages. Fished outer Poole Patch and managed a few dogfish. It was was cold, the sea lumpy and the wind somewhat fresher than forecast. There are quite a few nets around the rock! I wonder if they are having any better luck? It was good to get out but I am looking forward to some more settled weather never mind Bacon butties saved the day.

Hi Tom, Hope you can get out on the water on Friday... and good luck with the reviewers! I'am sure they'll all behave I'll be looking forward to hearing their thoughts about the 585 (will they be allowed to divulge them on the forum or will they be bound to secrecy until the article appears??) as having a 580 myself it should make for an interesting comparison. I would've liked to have seen the boat Friday... but work forbids this Anyways hope you have a good day on the water. Cheers Charlie H.

we are aware of these charts as many use them for smoothhounds. i like the idea of the cards in the photo would eliminate cheating. i was hoping that the comp could be in july, should have good weather and a few fish in the drink. perhaps the longest bass would make it easier to goven

to score the most points is it best to go down??
