  1. I had some done by signsense on Ashley Road Parkstone. I also spoke with the sign people down the bottom of blandford Road in Hamworthy who were very similar price.
  2. these people looking for crew ... what time are you likely to be out?
  3. that is my thoughts exactly .... now i just gotta find the time to use it!
  4. Hi Jim, I have searched just about everywhere recently and have settled for putting my Raider 18 at Rockley Park. Costs just over 2k a year to keep the boat there on its trailer and they launch and retreave whenever you want. I am hoping to be able to use her much more often now I dont have to mess about trailing, launching and retreaving her myself. Incidentally they also do dry stack, but getting the trailer out of my yard was a bonus to me.
  5. looking at the first and last pictures I would have had no issues about being out in that sea. Looking at the 2nd & 3rd looks like a different sea! I was actually in Cornwall yesterday and the waves at a little cove near Newquay were about 10ft high.
  6. i think this will be my course of action. Dont want to bugger 7 or 8 grands worth of engine for the sake of
  7. That was my thoughts too
  8. I had the cover off my boat during the recent heavy rains and my fuel tank was submerged in rain water. I am sure the guage is higher now than it was when i last used it, so am guessing that water has entered the tank (possibly through the breather cap). Is there any way I can tell, and if there is water contamination is there anything i can do?
  9. I will be interested in the answer to that, I get the same on my works computer.
  10. No Jim, it has a well between the engine and the deck. I went and looked at this boat before deciding on my Raider 18 and i only decided against it because it was BLOODY MASSIVE!!! It is an awful lot of boat and would easily fish 6 on that deck. You almost need to shout from the transome to the cabin door.
  11. Ha Ha @ tube filled with battery acid
  12. it looks pretty good in the pictures Trev. What about the rib??
  13. As I have said to Adam, I have no idea how to get pictures on here so if anyone wants to look, send me your private email address and i will forward the email he sent me. I genuinely beleive that with a weekend of elbow grease and a bottle of jif there is a good few quid to be made from the boat. Obviously that would probably cover the cost of the trailer.
  14. Adam, I have no idea how to get a picture on here so if you PM me your personal email address I will forward the email he sent me which has the pictures on it. Graham.
  15. A friend of mine (who knows I am a bit of a sucker for a bargain) has offered me a speedboat with inboard engine & z drive on a twin wheel trailer. He has had them all in his garden un-moved for a good few years but the trailer in particular looks pretty good in the photo he sent me. He really just wants them gone and has suggested that
  16. I have actually seen that hardy 17 down at fishingboats in southampton, its little bit grubby but loads of deck space. A mate of mine has an alaska 500 and its a very nice boat.
  17. Jay, Part of me loved my little boat, but getting her on the trailer in any swell, and the lack of speed (over an hour from launching at Baiter till i was at Poole Patch or Bournemouth Pier) was really the nail in its coffin. Surprisingly my new boat is MUCH steadier at anchor than my Plymouth Pilot was.
  18. Jon, I had a Plymouth Pilot 18, for a couple of years. Extremely economical to run but very slow. Strangely, it was as steady as a rock motoring through almost any seas (I was out in some very large waves in it) but it used to roll very badly at anchor. With the inboard engine the fishing space was also reduced quite considerably, although we did use the engine housing as our "cutting tray", but it still limited the deck space a lot. If you intend fishing inshore (or better still inside the harbour) they are solid heavy boats. Just about trailable, although because they are a displacement hull, there are few straight lines for rollers so they can be a bit of a bugger to get onto the trailer if there is any wind or swell. Most important, if you intend keeping it on a mooring, check the seals on the fore and aft decks. Put your head inside and look for daylight. Often the seals look ok, but leak water and you will find yourself having to bail her out every week of so during the wet seasons. Any specific questions, just ask. Graham
  19. Thats a beast of a fish Brian .... well done that man!
  20. I see it is back on its mooring tonight .... obviously no major damage done.
  21. I must be honest I didnt inform either Dave .... in hind sight it was a pretty obvious thing that I chould have done!
  22. Good evening. I have just come back from walking my dogs at Baiter (14th September) and see a RED & WHITE FISHING BOAT... looks like a Colvic of about 22ft - 26 ft whick looks like it is dragging its anchor/mooring ashore at Baiter. The name on the wheelhouse is KINGFISHER. If you know the owner it might be worth giving him a call. Fortunately it looks like a displacement hull boat so it will probably sit sort of upright on the beach, but I am sure they will want to know where it is. Graham.
  23. Interestingly, my etech manual claims the engine is "self flushing cooling system" and in the section on flushing it says, "If desired, the engine can be flushed" this would seem to imply that it is not so important??
  24. and where are you Duncan?
  25. Adam, I have rockleys price list here and they are
