  1. As an update to this thread from last year ..... Today was the first time i have had Little Sal out this year and i used a rope around the cabin attached to my new super monster winch.. It lifted the front of the trailer but I managed to pull the boat straight onto the trailer today in a very shallow water and in a quite brisk cross wind with ease. Much better :-) Thanks everyone for the help. I mentioned last year that I don't have a low level towing/pulling eye on my boat .... do you have any recommendations for anyone capable of fitting one??
  2. the bloke with the conger on his lap is obviously mad!
  3. Thanks for the input everyone. I am looking at a boat with an etech 90 tomorrow. As I said earlier, i would normally have completely discounted the 2 strokes if it hadn't have been for the comments on here.
  4. that is exactly the set up i am looking at Gordon .... Raider 18 with optimax 115 (i thought it was 100)
  5. had very similar situation arise myself today .... am selling a little house I have, and was due to exchange contracts last Friday ..... Friday came and went and no exchange .... I then get a call asking to drop my price by
  6. Ok that possibly helps me to decide ..... I saw a very nice boat with a Yam 100 on it, I saw the same boat but with an almost new optimax on it for
  7. So with everything else being equal you would not be put off by an optimax engine rather than a 4 stroke or etech?
  8. Having been looking about for a new toy I am stumped about the merits (or pitfalls) of the engine ...... I used to be into motor bikes and was constantly rebuilding my old Suzuki GT750 2 stroke, so I bought a 4 stroke Honda and all was well .... Till now I have used the same theory in outboard engines but have been completely confused by the people selling their high value boats who all tell me their choice of engine is the best ... Optimax 100 (2 stroke) with less than 100 hours on an 18ft boat Etech 90 (2 stroke) with about 180 hours on an 19ft boat Yamaha 100 4 stroke (unknown hours) on an 18ft boat. Till now I would have steered away from 2 stroke, but what is the oppinion of the people who use them??
  9. Maybe we best keep our eyes open for him going round the Isle of Wight
  10. http://www.couriermail.com.au/entertainmen...6-1225860394763 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...o=feeds-newsxml I did smile :-)
  11. ha ha @ The man told the rescue team he had been keeping the coast to his right and had ended up sailing in circles around Sheppey.
  12. agreed about the prices at Parkway. The prices they are quoting for 4 year old stuff is about the same as extreme are suggesting for brand new, but to be fair it may not be "like for like" so i will pop down and have a look and see if there is any room to haggle :-)
  13. I will definately be interested in having a look Gordon.
  14. I have just popped down there but they were shut. I will nip down first thing tomorrow, although I am intending on having a look at a couple of warriors too. Graham
  15. Grakam Like Jim, not sure when MegaByte will be out next, but if Jim's not available, you're welcome to take a look (Upton). I'm around most days. I had a look at yours Brian, I popped up and picked up an anchor from you a little while ago and you showed me round your baby then :-).,...... Jim, I would be very grateful to have a look at yours and hear your opinions and Gordon .... Thank you very much for the offer and I have a feeling that a trip out on yours may end up costing me very dearly :-) but I will check my diary for the weekend and get back to you ...... where and when are you thinking??
  16. I already have one for each foot Zippy :-)
  17. Ok ..... I think I have decided to sell my displacement hull Plymouth Pilot (that I find too slow and heavy, although very cheap to run) and buy a 15 / 18ft fast fisher. I have a budget of up to about
  18. Sounds excellent. Is good to hear someone actually catching something for a change. Well done.
  19. probably padlock the launching trolley to the bumper of the van..... Silly I know, but as Brian says, it would be the councils way of preventing missuse of the car park by local workers. I have just thought, this post could quite easily relate to me when I am in the car park having launched my kayak ...... Mmmmmm??
  20. I think you will see that the signs do actually say that if you park in the slipway bit you MUST have a trailer attached. I would be interested whether you were actually in the trailer bit or the normal car park bit??
  21. Are you saying that you used more fuel at slower speed in choppy weather Wedger?
  22. pure drop is right in centre of Poole, Skinner Street or Lagland Street i think.
