I hope it's on, I've spent this afternoon renewing my line on my reels with heavier line after losing three heavy fish last weekend.
-
I think it was the smell of the bacon that enticed the doggies over to you :-)
-
I took a mate out today and anchored up close to alfresco on the banks a few miles out. A doggie joined us within minutes. We didn't have to wait too long for the rays to join in. We ended up having a cracking day with rays to 19lb, a couple of doggies and eels (landed) up to 10lb with a few very heavy and very grumpy fish being lost on the way up.

what sort of area are you likely to be Charlie? I may pop out myself too.
-
They're the new dogfish!

I did go out Sunday, about 6 or 7 miles out. There were three or 4 other boats there too. It was "do-able" but not particularly comfortable and certainly not productive. I gave it about 3 hours, one doggie and a conger and headed back to the shelter of the harbour. That produced crabs, crabs and more crabs. Roll on the 28th.

Forecast is improving a little, so Graham with two non members (son Wayne and grandson Ashton) will be out there somewhere. Ive never caught a cod before (apart from while drifting over a wreck on Alfresco many years ago). Is the general opinion that anchoring or drifting is the way to fish for cod? I personally prefer anchoring (but as mentioned, have never caught a cod, maybe thats why?).

the weekend is looking less promising as it gets closer.

It would seem that the vote went 265 to 202 against the amendment. 265 conservative MPs rejected the amendment and only 22 were for it. The difference was 63 votes, however 85 MPs were absent or abstained. There will be a second vote on Wednesday this week. There's a list of the MPs who didn't vote in the following link and instructions on what to do (if you feel strongly enough about it) https://www.change.org/p/uk-parliament-make-reducing-sewage-pollution-a-legal-requirement-in-the-uk/u/29757972

It certainly does the rounds does that hoist. Superb bit of kit

How long would you need it? I replied to you in August as I knew I would be needing it myself a couple of months later. Mine is down at Ridge Wharfe, trailer is good but the brakes have been removed (so obviously unlikely to be legal to tow your boat on the road). But as I say, Ill be using it myself towards the end of this month so probably no good to you any more.

I saw you leave the harbour as we were coming in. We trolled some feathers and lures through those frenzies but didnt get anything.
-
plans have changed .... i might be able to make it Sunday (it will be with a non member if at all).
-
I intend on being out on the Saturday (weather permitting). It will be me and a non member.

We passed two seals on the way out of Wareham channel in the morning as well as a kingfisher and an osprey so it wasn't all bad 👍

Well, with the lack of advice forthcoming, I decided to make a plan of my own ...... I left my mooring at Wareham at 8.37 and exited the harbour entrance at 9.17 (so 40 minutes at "more or less" the speed limit 😉 ) I decided mackerel off Bournemouth pier would be the first stop .... Unfortunately the mackerel had other ideas .... but we did get a tub gurnard as well as getting deafened by up to 40 amazing power boats at speeds of up to 90 knots on the Cowes to Torquay race! No mackerel .... no problem, we had squid, worm, frozen mackerel and lures :-) .... Off towards the IOW to a wreck I fished many years ago. First drift, bang .... snagged on the wreck! Second drift .. nothing, third, forth, fifth ... nothing! We tried anchoring uptide of it, nothing! Then the anchor started slipping so we decided on plan b .... or was it c? Off to Dolphin bank (or sands) and a rather choppy drift for anything flat ..... nothing (but a very uncomfortable nothing!!) A slow wet motor back to the shelter of Old Harry where we managed one sizeable wrasse. Still uncomfortable, partly because of the amount of boats rounding Old Harry between Swanage and Poole making it like the inside of a washing machine . so we decided on a much earlier day than we had planned. Tying up at Wareham at 4.00 I dont know how many miles, but it was around 30 - 35 (many of which were uncomfortable). I do know it was about 40 litres of fuel. One tub and one wrasse!! Ive had better days :-) :-)

The motor up and down the river is lovely. especially when the seals are about
-
Surprisingly, it takes me under 3/4 an hour from arriving at Wareham to rounding brownsea castle during the summer. It normally takes a little longer getting back (as I'm not quite so eager). No faffing with trailers and slipways.
-
The weather looks favourable, the tides look reasonable and i will have earned my brownie points on Saturday by taking my missus out ALL day and missing the football :-) .... so .... my plan is to leave Wareham around 8am and get back to Wareham around 8pm. What do you suggest for the time between?
-
did you get sorted?
-
I do believe we have many members that are not local (we certainly did when I was a member last time round).... maybe someone else would have a better idea of that?
-
Welcome Adam, I might be slightly biased as I was a member a long time ago and let it lapse (due to never managing to get out fishing)! Im back to it now, and have re-joined. The wealth of experience within the club is huge. Theres a whole new world in this forum to club members. Its worth the money alone.

I went there a couple of weeks ago ...... no rays, and only one small gurnard!!

Looks like the wind is picking up for Sunday
