    Hi Chris! Welcome.
  2. I would raise my middle finger to you, but it hurts too much. Yes my like fishing apprentice did well. Hell of a PB for a river, let alone an unmanaged free stretch! (My PB from 1/2 mile away is only 17lb )
  3. Good old NHS! Dr appointment 10:30, popped home to get a brew to take with me. Down to Hospital for X-ray. X-ray taken (6 or so), looked at during my time on the machine. Second opinion sort. Then off to A&E, waited, seen triage quickly, waited, splint & sling. Home 13:30! Ruddy good service if you ask me!
  4. I have a sling of sympathy, which seems to be working!
  5. Ruddy thing twisted and being slimy my fingers in the gill opening, ended up with a spiral break to my middle finger! Currently waiting for bandaging after X-ray! Extreme sport this fishing lark!
  6. She did Ian, but we were Ninja Fishing in the trees. So couldn't give any line and only had a 10x15 ft opening of water to play her. Surrounded by tree trunks, roots, branches. With the cloured water, I was able to sneak the net under without it being seen!!!
  7. Good Ghillie I say!!!!! [emoji56]
  8. It was the Stour, but not (quite) Throop!

50 shades Brian? Sister? Yer right!!!
  10. Plus it snapped away from the rod as I still had some line to reel in. But I will check, thanks to the idea!
  11. Thanks Paul! When I inspected the end, it looked like a knot had pulled, so maybe a loop in the braid that popped!
  12. Well, Al and I had discussed the next window in the weather. Sunday was chosen and we met early, with a late return in mind due to the bar!! Well, a bass to me of 7 lb 13oz! The story goes: I snapped my braid on "the bottom" 10 yds from the float, so lost float etc ect. Float gone, dragged down by the tide! We were passing the same area an hour later at slack water & Keeping and eye out incase the float might surface. Hard to spot due to sun, but from 150/200 yds I saw it. Picked up the braid as Al approached from down tide. It felt a bit heavy! Then, that fish surfaced and I shouted for the net, braid all round my hand, in a massive tangle. Al's net caught up on his rig, so I brought fish to boat and lifted it out by the bottom lip, 7lb 13! A great day out on the water in good company! Rob
  13. It's for his baguette!
  14. There was a guy who services them (cars etc too) and was based out of the sheds that run the rental boats in the carpark by the slipway at wick.

  24. Watching this now on bbc2. Long liners are dropping lines 1/2 mile down for black cod. They are stalked by sperm whales, who dive in to the longline as it is pulled up, and snatch off the black cod! Leaving only the heads!!! More and more whales are learning this technique! Brilliant! The longline boat had an automatic baiting machine, one guy loaded sardines / mackerel and the machine diced the fish as a hook was on its way out the boat, attached the disc of bait on the hook perfectly. So easy to lay 1000's of hooks!! Good on the whales I say!!!
