    Auxiliary bracket

Just been thinking, the positioning (height) of the bracket must differ from boat to boat and affecting by other factors. When fitting the main outboard, the bottom of the hull must line up with the cativating (?) plate on the outboard. However, when fitting an aux outboard, it is on the side so for a v hull board, to line up the plate, the bracket must be higher than the transom of the boat. Surely the height of the bracket can also be determined by whether it is a long or short shaft outboard. Am I making sense or am I speaking crap?!

Just tell the insurer your ball is with the wreck at the bottom of the Solent.

    Anchor

I have a Danforth and a folding type as second anchor. I've found the danforth sometimes slips while the folding anchor is good but inconvienence to use. Should I get a plough or bruce? And what weigh should it be?

    Auxiliary bracket

It'll be my honour , only too glad to help fellow club members. Marc helped me with a 'thingy' (or was it a 'wotsit'? ) Just drop me a line when you are down at Poole and I'll either bring it to a get together or post it to you.

    EPIRB?

I haven't got one, and I suppose if you are going to go a fare way off shore then they are of great help if you are likely to be out of vhf range. Only warning is that they are phasing out one of the frequency and make sure you get the right one.

    Auxiliary bracket

I have a pair od step handle (steps as well as handle when moving the boat) if you want. I bought them for my Shetland but never fitted them on. Now my boat has a boarding ladder and I havce no use for them. They are made of hard black plastic (probably nylon or something). Let me know if you want them. Kam
  11. Hi Out of interest, why do you have 2 chartplotters? How does the New Garmin compares to the older Lowrance in term of graphics and usablity?
  12. Strictly speaking, it's not fishing......
  13. I may try the solent on Tuesday, as it's not too bad at the moment, and if the depression comes in earlier or later, it would even be better.
  14. No weeds cos antifoul is more lethal than weedkillers. Do make sure the driveway is wash properly, otherwise pets or small children can pick up them easily. Make sure you wear proper breathing protector when sanding, as you can brealth in poisoness dust, may not kill you , nevertheless not good for your lung. Also be very gentle with the bottom coat, as orbital sander can be too strong and stripe away the gelcoat which you don't want.
  15. Is it a curtailment then? This's what they have on Metcheck webcite: Weather Warning Issued [Friday October 01 2004 : 8:46:00 AM] ISSUED : 1 OCTOBER : 09:00 Areas Affected : Southern, Southwestern, Northern England, Wales, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Western, Central, Northern Scotland, There is some concern regarding developments on Sunday with regards to a complex depression and secondary depression (one of which is the remnants of Hurricane Lisa) crossing the UK. There is a high risk of gales or even severe gales in Northern and Western areas coupled with exceptional rainfall across Northern areas as well as Southwestern and Southern areas during Sunday evening. If you have a journey planned for the period in the regions mentioned, you are advised you stay informed of the latest forecasts. Please follow all local TV & Radio warnings for more information. Neither is next Sunday look very promising either, shall we cancel it and reaarrange at a later day, maybe a codding trip or something?! It will gives you all a chance to use up the squids you've ordered .......
  16. So any more thought about this Sunday yet? The forecasts are looking very bad, force 5-8 s/ssw depending on which website. Further you go east, better the forecasts, solent force 3-4 but it will be sheltered, even St Catherine point is only 3-4, but not sure how wave and tide will affect the state of the sea?! Fishing wise, the weeds problems is getting better as the temp drops, and nowhere as prolific as it was. Whiting has been making an appearance in the solent, but cod (15 lb) only got as far up as Hayling bay last week. There is always chance of early codling in the deep water off gillkicker.
  17. How do you catch your prawns? Did you net them? I used to use drop nets at seawalls to catch small prawns and fries, but had to be really quick at hauling it up and could never catch in great number.
  18. What do you thing is the best bait for cod? Some swear on squids and some say cuttle fish is the best. While other say cocktail does the business.
  19. Can't help you with the plotter bit, as I want a plotter too, but can't quite convince myself to part with
  20. Welcome, enjoy the banter.
  21. How about codding and whiting around the needle of even nab tower? The weather forecast isn't too bad, only f2-f4.
  22. Coastal, as inshore has not the parachute flare which you really want if you are out in the sea. The cost difference isn't that much, probably
  23. Newboy

    Thank you Adam

I had the rack custom made and only cost me
  24. My thought exactly. Back on the insurance condition, one of the insurance company who I'd a quote from, insist on the trailer being chained to an inmovable object. I was think of a very small chain to a small bracket screwed on the garage wall ........
