seems strange to have two Clubs using different sizes. My Friend who runs the other one used to write and publish tide books, before retiring last year. He is an admin fanatic, so keeps up to date with information. Especially as he likes to keep RNRMAA well up the list of Clubs reporting specimens. He tells me that AT change or review sizes every three years and next update is due in 2026. that lines up with what I found this morning one 2019 and another 2022.

Thanks Martin I remember that too, but it looks like they changed it, then changed it back. Even worse that AT website shows that info, but Wessex AT is different? I thought we as a Club decided to follow the AT sizes. For clarity and simplicity . Lol 😉

Sorry to be a pain with this. I am not doing this to get any extra percentage, but its odd that I have two Clubs using different sizes on their lists. I have just been to the chandlers here at work, and checked a couple of tide books, that agree with the one I copied yesterday. I have now also checked the Angling Trust website. on the 2019/20 list it shows Spurdog at 16lb On the later 2022/23 list, Spurdogs are 14lb, it looks like they may have changed the weights again. Hi everyone, As you may have seen , I was fortunate enough to catch a specimen Spurdog today. As well as being an active member of this Club I am also in a Navy veteran's one, so I recorded the fish on our website and with them on a very busy WhatsApp group. This has raised a bit of an issue regarding the correct specimen size. Our Club is using 16lb and the Navy 14lb. I though that my other Club was wrong, as I thought we had it changed some years ago. The secretary of that Navy Club tells me that he has checked the AT website. Can someone please check. sorry to cause a problem.

Thanks for joining me today Jim. Really enjoyable even if Colin was right about the wind. Nice sunny day in the chilly wind. Bit rude of me to catch a fish before you had a bait in the water, but it was only one of many doggies. Moving out to the 50 50 area was a good move, even if the waves were bigger. Dogs whiting pout started us off. A short time later as the tide eased, I was rewarded with a small blonde ray. Before that was even out of the net, my other rod bent to a strong fish. Great effort by Jim to get the net under a stroppy spurdog, that pulled the scales down to 7.6 kg. 16lb 12oz. In old money. As the tide started to build on its ebb run , we decided to move back inshore. For just a few more doggies. 1600 end and short run back to the yacht club. Jim took the pictures so i will ask him to add a few.

Well done Mal All that effort will be worth it. We all carry far to much kit and tackle, but 6 pairs of scissors, may be a tad over the top.

Looks like its just two of us Jim. Lets see what we can find.

Has anyone ever been into Beaucette marina? I hear that fuel is even cheaper there and its 5 miles nearer to the casket banks

Had a look on the Boatworks Guernsey website yesterday. Their fuel prices are way cheaper than Alderney at £0.86 ltr red diesel. If we still fished Schole Bank, I would be tempted to go there.

Hi everyone, I have not been out for a couple of weeks and there seems to be a window in the weather on Friday. The tides are a bit too large to go very far out, so it may be a few hours on the 50/50 banks and a few on a mark nearer to shore.
