  1. Years ago lots of people seemed to use fingerless gloves. As it was always my fingers that were cold, I thought they were the worst idea ever. Then I tried some and changed my mind. The pair I had on Saturday were woolen, thinsulate lined ones and I was fine, even when they got wet. The main problem with them is that they do get wet with the bait and need washing ASAP after a trip. I have never found a lined pair that are more waterproof. or tried some seaskinz.
  2. You arevery welcome Brianand Graham. Glad we managed to keep the rods nodding.
  3. Happy Birthday Dave Have a great day.
  4. No problem Rob If anyone else fancies doing this years trip on Alfresco. Please let me know. Charlie
  5. Well done. We were a bit further out Had half a dozen rays and a decent Spurdog Plus the usual dogs whiting pout and small conger. A really nice day out there except for the chilly breeze. Quite surprised that there were not many boats near us.
  6. I am going to start on the 50 50. Then move to a shallower area when the tide gets strong
  7. Alfresco and Reel Magic Dave and I have discussed it and would probably start by looking at the first weekend in May. Dan is hoping to join me as crew and I think Rob is considering joining us on-board. Dan and I would probably sleep onboard Jerry may also be coming with Looby 4
  8. Not a problem Graham. At the moment it was just Brian and I. Please PM me your number and I will call Probably meet just before 8, head out to anchor in the 50/50 area on the slackening flood tide. Once the Ebb gets going we may need to move to escape the strong tide for the last couple of hours
  9. PM me your number mate and I will call you.
  10. Looks like there may be another chance to get out at the weekend. Dan is away on the snow , so I will have space for a couple of crew if anyone fancies a trip out to get rid of the cobwebs. Let me know on here or give me a call Charlie
  11. I received a picture on Monday from someone using up some worms on Monday, who caught an elusive flounder a day late. 😄
  12. Happy Birthday Rob
  13. Apologies for me this year, we are away seeing family before Christmas.
  14. Thanks Steve She is due an oil and filters change, so I will get that done before the next trip and see if that's it. Damn annoying that the Volvo engine is controlled by ECU's but the read out on the dash gives no clues . Just the code. I am sure you are right about the dolphins feeding on the whiting shoals, maybe the tuna will come further up the channel too.
  15. We left the marina just after 8 and out to the 50 50 area. Just before we arrived an engine alarm sounded, so we swapped to a nearer mark dropped the hook and had a look over the engine. Kettle on and rods out as we let the engine cool down. (should not take long it's minus 1) A few whiting and a bass quite quickly, but nothing big The only thing we could find on the engine was a slightly low oil level, so a bit was added. At 11 the tide was a bit quick and bites were rare, so we pulled anchor and set off inshore. There were quite a few boats on the inner banks, we chatted to a few as we picked a spot. Anchor down and fishing started well. Another slightly bigger bass, whiting , pout and to many damn doggies. Still it was calm and getting warmer, so we were having a good time and some nice lunch. AT 1345 we decided the tide should have eased so back out we went. This time to our original target area. Talking to Graham on the way past I was a bit concerned about so many Dolphins in the area. We did not see any and I do not think it affected us. In the next 90 minutes we had constant whiting, not huge but a few keepers to take home with the bass. We estimated that we had over a hundred, keeping a dozen or so. Heading in at just after 1600, we had enjoyed a lovely cold days fishing. Surrounded by lots of other boats doing the same. Great to be out again.
  16. Looks like Dan and I will also be put on Saturday. Tight lines all
  17. Hi all Is anyone thinking of going afloat this weekend? I need to give the boat a run after a long lay off. It would to be good to know if there are some fish about and where they may be. Charlie
  18. Tight lines Martin I have overdone doing some garden job and my sore back has got worse. Our planned trip has had to be postponed.
  19. Happy Birthday Oli I hope that life is being good to you.
  20. Well done guys. You cannot dictate the sizes mate. Great weather for the third year running Jerry, someone is looking after you. Superb fishing getting 10 to the boat. I bet you wanted to get a popping rod out. Say Hi to Stuart from me, glad he got on too.
  21. Well done RobGood plants keep heading West. We have tried 4 times locally and are yet to get even a decent shark run.
  22. Well played Wales. Great match even on just highlights. Did watch some of the post match interview with Eddie, he looked upset. Lol
