Good afternoon and welcome to you both. Tight Lines Charlie
  2. Dixie in Wessex will also do that for you Charlie, for not much more than the cost of a new top eye
  3. Wendy had to replace Jayden yesterday. Same height but not quite a junior LOL
  4. Alfresco -Charlie - Dan - Ian S Tigerfish - Steve, Jones brothers and Scott Reel Magic Madness - Martin, Mal, Tony
  5. That would be Brian our Membership Secretary and Treasurer He is on holiday at the moment but will pick up a PM when he gets a chance
  6. Hi all Tommy Smith has asked me to put up a thread He has 6 rod tubes that have lost there inserts and was wondering if anyone knows where to get replacements. his tubes are 50mm inside Diameter reply here and I will pass it on Charlie
  7. Sounds great Cannot sneak out this week as the helm unit has gone over to Lymington for a service. Need it back for the junior Comp at the weekend.
  8. Have 3 of us for Alfresco now, still room for one more but three is good enough. 4 boats or more would be great, any of the less experienced crews want to join in and buddy up?
  9. is that correct? I thought its a Windlass or a Capstan
  10. Well said Steve its not what qualifications you have, its what you do with that knowledge under pressure. Don't get me wrong , training is good But Experience and practice is very important too
  11. A couple of us have been discussing taking our boats across the channel to give the French some of their own medicine and pinch the fish off of their wrecks. A good date for me is the last weekend in July when Wendy will be at Eileen's hen do [and the tides are good] Of course the weather will be the biggest deciding factor. We have done this trip a few times now, in the company of one or two other Club boats. They have all been good fun. Just two long days Sat/Sun otherwise keeping fish good gets tough. Wrecking both ways with an over night in the Marina just on the edge of town. After a shower ashore we usually all go in town together on the Sat night for Moules and frites and a few beers. It is just Dan and I at the moment so we have space for two more on board Alfresco, Dan and I will sleep on board and others usually arrange accommodation in Town. If you are interested please get in touch, on here, via PM or give me a text or call on 07887 794716 You will of course need a passport, even though we are still in the EU. Expertise is not required, just maybe a sense of humour and some Sea legs Charlie
  12. LOOKS GREAT Enjoy your new boat. tight lines and stay safe
  13. Alfresco For the 1st and last comps only-- Jayden Wald age 11 Middle one is too close to his Mum and Dads wedding day, I think we will all be busy
  14. Looks like the area we used to fish together with Blue Warrior and Great White Adam the same ground Wendy and I fished 10 days ago for the first time in years Cracking pictures of a fully loaded rod , downside of the lever drags, once you reach sunset there is nowhere to go . some times you feel a need to add just a bit more pressure, but cannot. As you say we will also be back
  15. Great report well done guys looks like a great evening session
  16. Thanks Steve I have the disc for the Lowrance, but not the Garmin one that has a chart background.
  17. Rob will be on soon about the weavers, he persisted with one when on Alfresco and caught a turbo on it.
  18. Sounds tough mate I really thought that it would work out for you in that fantastic forecast, why is the fishing usually below par when the weather goes like that? Looks like you could not have tried any harder, it was just one of those trips Glad that everything else made it an enjoyable weekend. Charlie
  19. Hi All I have just changed both my home PC and our PC's at work. In doing so I have lost the two systems that I have been using to swap the information to and from Alfresco's GPS/Plotters. I have Garmin and Lawrance on board Trouble is I cannot find the discs to reinstate the systems on my PC and Laptop Garmin I believe uses a system called Mapsource. and Lawrance uses Mapcreate I must say that the Garmin system is better as it has chart details to it, where as the Lowrance one does not. Exam Question; does anyone have a disc or other way that I can use to get these back on my PC/Laptop? Thanks Charlie
  20. It depends what setting you have selected in the plotter I believe that it is degrees, minutes decimal It also needs to be told if it is North/South and East/West IE; 001 degrees 24 minutes decimal 023 west becomes 001,24.023W an example DOLPH 3 Tope & Rays - C/Church 50°40.539N 001°37.756W Hope that helps Charlie
  21. Well done Jerry great to hear that your friends got some good Tope, a bit deep for fly rods??
  22. we spent a lot of the day in deep water But ended the day inshore drifting with ragworm, so we did at least try
  23. The Tub would of been the best eating fish you are likely to get IMHO we had some that size a couple of years ago, Will persuaded me to keep one for the table, very nice indeed, and a big specimen too Well done on your trip.
  24. Alfresco Nil Points Probably should not have been in 36 metres. LOL
