fussy buggers i like mine how it comes as long as its wet and warm............im easy but what i actually have on board is a few tubes of ready made cups of nescafe coffee in those plastic cups that i just add hot water to. i also have tubes ot soup and hot chocolate to. they just stay in the lockup perminately and all i take with me is a flask of hot water.......no washing up at the end either Dan

well first time out for me on mine for 18 months. haven't really been thinking of boat fishing as ive been pretty much living on the rivers over the past year after barbel and chub. Anyway, took the missus out as she hadn't been out with me before with the intention of just getting her a few bites and teaching her the craft of boat angling. Well, i was pretty suprised when she set her up her own rods, tied the leader knots and then launched a cast 30yards off the back of the boat. I think she has done this before Anyway, couldn't get bait in the usual spot so headed to xray to see if we could get any there. Full strings in no time. Hook down, quickly into dogs, then pack tope before Jade dropped a good ray. A couple of bass to me upto 4lb before it lumps up. Spent the next couple of hours getting chucked about before it flattens off again at about 6pm. A couple of decent rays (inc jades 1st) follow before we head in.

ok i didnt get out on tuesday as i had car problems so i am now thinking of trying this monday weather depending. I am thinking of the 9 mile banks again (max range for my boat) and going for the usual species, but also having a couple of 'big' rods set up in hope that a toothy visitor may come along. Would need a buddy from christchurch though. If its a little bit iffy then its the 6lb class gear for the inshore species. No crew yet either so may be looking.

Well after not being out on mine for nearly 18 months, eventually ive done all the work on it needed for a trip. If i can get the towbar fitted (cost depending) i will be out tuesday. Probably the 9 mile banks after the blondes and possibly tope. No crew sorted yet, but il prob chat with my mate or my dad and see if they want a trip. If i get the towbar sorted and anyone wants to buddy then let me know. Launching from christchurch. Dan P.S, it feels like an age since i last posted.

Hey- 2 questions here, any help appreciated- Q!)Wheel bearings- its happened more than once now that when i try and take the bearing off to change it, the tapered bearing frame is stuck solid to the axel. i have tried everything to move it, beating it with hammer and bolster, heating it up, etc and it still wont move. there seemed to be enough grease in there to. I even tried using a hacksaw but that wouldn't touch it. i would have used my grinder to cut it off but thats broke any ideas... i cant take the boat out until i have done it.. Q2)The cabin window has popped out from its rubber seal case and i can't get it back in at all. i have tried using screw drivers to put it back in place, but failing I have heard that there is a way using string and soapy water? is someone leading me on as i wouldn't have a clue how that would work. cheers Dan

nice one....i have been walking the northfield lakes in ringwood and most of the cats are still dormant, so getting one this early is a right result. Yep they love sea baits, but hardly anyone uses them, as they opt for pellets and boilies or surface fished live baits. All in all, a great fish caught very early on a very underated bait.

You need something with plenty of guts to wind up that kind of weight.......The tool for the job is the Shimano Biomaster 8000.........its a carp big pit real, but like a winch, but not oversized, so perfect for bassing to.

Fair enough mate Sounds good 2 me

Tom...nice one......But i do remember you wrongly agreeing with a few of us that Mike Fox's mullet, and my one i landed were golden greys....and they turned out to be thicklipped....even with a pic we got it wrong.... It would have been so easy to have claimed, as my witness at the time thought it was....but i think when the pics were published on here, someone checked properly and found them to be false claims..... Anyway, i dont really care, just thought pics help...... Next subject....
-
Paul, shouldn't a photo be a minimum requirement for a record claim? We have had jumbo Golden Grey Mullet that were thicks, huge 20lb undulates that was a mid double thorneback, big tubs reported as reds, people catching small blondes and thinking they have caught a huge spotty, and people weighing fish in a soaking wet landing net, complete with pole and not deducting the weight of the net.... Trust is a good thing, but some people are, especially those new to the sport may not have the full understanding of 1)proper fish I.D and 2) know how to weigh fish accurately. I just think that a club of this size should look at the new records and ask every claim to be every claim submitted to the comitee has evidence to back the claim, and it be for the comitee to make a decision accordingly as to whether the claim is 'cosher' or not. A good quality pic will give you the fish I.D and also indicate the if the size of the weight claimed is similar to size the fish looks on the snap. Danny

cheers chris and zippy.....there both more than good enough. il copy it from here. cheers

hey, the old man went fishing on the river last night and landed this pb 7.01 chub, but the pic is so poor. Can anyone lighten the pic though as my software doesn't seem to be able to do it. Cheers Danny
