  1. I remember a friend who used to reverse his BMW in up to the wheel hubs at Baiter. I questioned the advisability of this but he told me that car could take that sort of treatment. I asked was it galvanised but he said no, it's a company car. 😀 Terry.
  2. With that beard you look like you're straight out of the bayou. Soon you'll be able to audition for ZZ Top!
  3. Looking good Trev. Terry.
  4. I'm definitely Waldorf! 😉 Terry.
  5. Looks like when we get together Martin. Terry.
  6. I'm a simple soul, if you're born male or female, that's what you are, end of story. I have no problem whatsoever if you want to pretend or believe you're something else, knock yourself out as long as it doesn't affect me but, in nature, nothing has changed. Terry.
  7. Where would we all be without boundless optimism. 🥴 Terry.
  8. I have the family over from Sweden from Thursday so, afraid I will be absent. Good luck to everyone. Terry.

    Sadly true!

I used to have a secretary who told me that I was so lucky to have so much free salmon. I did put her right. Terry.
  10. Checking the charts, 5kg would suffice for your length of boat. Terry.
  11. There you go, Rob's sorted it. Terry.
  12. Pretty much in the middle of my areas of expertise, last boat was a Warrior 16.5ft for which a 5kg was perfect, current one is 6.25m for which I use the next one up, 7.5kg. I would have thought the latter for yours. Terry.
  13. Ideal for sand, not so good on mixed or snaggy ground, being sharp and pointy they can easily become jammed. Definitely get a Bruce! Also consider an Alderney ring set up for retrieval, if you're not sure how it works, bag a ride on another member's boat and they can share the technique. What length is your boat for weight purposes? Terry.
  14. WOW!!! Terry.
  15. What type of anchor are you using? The usual one chosen in our area is a Bruce (type) as this seems to be a good compromise on our mixed ground. In case you're not familiar with the terminology, an anchoring set up comprises the anchor and rode which is made up of the rope or warp, chain, shackles etc. Apologies if you already knew this. Terry.
  16. I am reading this as the boat anchor not holding bottom. Not huge tides so you shouldn't have had a problem. The obvious answers are a) your anchor isn't heavy enough; not knowing your boat and length I couldn't guess at this b) You don't have enough chain or c) you didn't have enough rope out, This is so your anchor and chain are laid on the bottom and not being pulled up. Terry.
  17. That's it, rub it in! 😒 Terry.

    Not getting anything. Terry.
  19. Jim, I can't believe you make all these cakes personalised for the club members, I assume you eat them all yourself. Terry.
  20. A Happy Cake Day young Alun, hope France is being kind to you. Terry.
  21. I realised Rob, I've been around too long to expect sincerity from you 😉😀. The smoked salmon mousse was delightful though, as ever! Terry.
  22. This was not a red letter day! All I will add is that Martin and I went fishing. Thanks for the company Martin, the only up side of the day. And the cider, of course! Terry.
  23. I shall be going out on Friday from Cobb's if anyone would care to join me, space for one. Terry.
  24. It was banned for the public in the early 2000's but implementation has been spasmodic. It appears I'm fractionally previous as it is due to finally be implemented later this year https://www.octopost.co.uk/other-pages/the-future-of-creosote-posts/#:~:text=Coal-tar creosote has been, risks associated with the use. Terry.
  25. I used to do the same, the creosote preserved the wood and the oil waterproofed it, I'm surprised nobody patented it. Of course, we cannot get creosote any more, damn the EU! Terry.
