  10. Trigger fish, the bane of my life. In all my years of wrassing and with anglers all around the boat sweeping them over the gunnels, not so much as a sniff. Bl**dy Trigger Fish
  11. Braid or Mono Rich?
  12. Sounds good for you mate, all my wife wants to do is sunbathe on the front. At least it keeps the seagulls away.!!!!
  13. I think its the smell of Dads groundbait.
  14. Hi every one im leah and im 13. looking forward to doing some fishing in the summer!
  15. http://www.stripersonline.com/ubb547/image...aiwasaltist.jpg Nice reel, and it's got a forward facing gearbox
  16. An alternative consideration is the Abu 7000 Sychro .... a stardrag that has the ability to backwind approximately 60 degrees or so! .... this back winding motion releases the clutch setting by approximately 50% ... very useful when bringing a Tope along side the boat ... if it runs as they do when they appear played out " till they see the hull " ... you then simply turn the handle in the normal rotation and the clutch setting is reengaged as you had set it prior! I find it really does work well ... they made a 6000 series sychro also ... again a nice reel .... probably better for mono line but not impossible for using braid as long as the diameter is not too fine .... 17. There are a number of reasons to pick one reel over another reel, I suppose the biggest reason should be what makes you most happy to own With regards to the clutch mechanism itself
  18. Hello Gentlemen .... it looks a great site very well laid out and informative Hope I can learn off you guys and possibly contribute in my own small way Thanks for the warm welcome guys .... nice touch!
  19. Hi dan for heavens sake don't use that one as bait lols, very hard to impale on a hook without it squeeling. Rockling 3bearded is the largest of the rocklings and i belive the shore record is over 2lb.They are a pinky/reddish under belly and reddy brown on top. The five bearded rockling is a lot smaller and is greenish in colour. King rag are good for bass and dovers big flounder always seem to be full of shellfish.I've just had more success on maddies for flounder that's all.a comp recently our way mean't if you didn't have maddies you didn't catch. hope this helps chas....
  20. Hi all thanks for the welcome, I know late responding but my computer skills are only just worse than my fishing, no wrong way around! looking forward to meet you all soon. Sea a bit rough today !!!!!!!!! Cheers Pete
  21. Hi alun j. I read your report with interest. We in wales use what they call maddies, these are harbor rag which are bunched up on a fine wire hook size 1 or 1/0. The same method catches the golden grey mullet off llangenith. I know there are different methods around the country but try these little critters out,you never know they might work where it's muddy. all the best . chas....
  22. Thank you for the warm welcome....very much appreciated... regards Neil Glover, Jamma
  23. Thanks for all the replys and the good advise. I have been warned about the problem of moored boats breaking free and doing damage to other boats. To use one mans words "idiots using the wrong ground tackle"When the moorings are allocated are you given a choise as to where you can moor? Would I be better further out, closer to the sea. Or closer to shore. I have suffered some vandal damage this year(2 broken windows and about half a ton of thick stinking mud all over the boat)which I am still getting off in places. Closer to the sea would be the way to go (my thinking) RAY
  24. Cheers for the advice Adam and as soon as we can set a date you are more than welcome to a day out. It sounds very much like Felixstow a very narrow fast moving channel with moving sand bars. How much time would you give yourselve each side of high tide for exit and return. I have an 85hp mercury strapped to the back so there should be more than enough grunt in reserve. RAY
  25. Hello I was introduced to this site as I hope to moor my 21 fast fisher down at Mudeford Quay. I hope to do a fair bit of fishing in and around the Poole Bay area and maybe a bit further as well. I have seen the bar mentioned also "the run" on this and on other sites is it realy as bad as some folk make out. I was hoping to trailer my boat down one weekend soon and have a quick bash just to test the water as it were. I could do with a few pointers as for getting in and out of "the run". Maybe if someone would like a day out on my boat they would be more than welcome and perhaps show me the best way to approch and get through. Cheers RAY
