I have just been reading the comments on "speed"(no, not the funny stuff) and the Harbour Master. Can anyone explain to me how they have time even to consider chasing boat owners re:speed until they have hung all of the Jet-Ski morons??? Apart from thinking that they have the divine right to moor wherever they see fit on the ramp at Baiter,I have only ever seen ONE (and SHE was a lady)who took off at anything like regulation speed. Last Thursday I had to wait for five minutes on my approach to the ramp while two ar...oles played "doughnuts"around the speed limit signs!!!AND a H/M boat had only just passed me!!!! I only found the H/M telephone number when the little darlings had left. (I was so angry I stamped my foot.......SO THERE!!!!!) I did get their numbers however and the object of this little rant is to ask if anyone knows if the H/M ever takes action on third party reports"after the event"? If I thought it would do any good, and a prosecution got some good publicity I would be prepared to sit for an hour or so with my camcorder on zoom to give them some concrete evidence. Is it worth a try???? Must admit, writing this has got it off my chest......a little!!! BobD

Coddy .... your link is here ... Duncan .... I do have the metal thing with wheels, but its un-braked so towing is 40mph..... how long dop you rekon it would take to get to Poole from Mersea Island? (rhetorical!)Boat Angling forum

I don't think so Its only a Seahog m8, 2x25 liter tanks but it will drink 20 liters an hour. Now, if you want to follow me in a tanker ..........

I'm getting back into fishing after an absence of 20+ years - and want help choosing a pair of boat rods and reels. There is far more choice around now! For example: Will a

I feel the need to buy GPS. These are my requirements: Sunlight viewable Must have the ability to input fishing marks (when I eventually find one!) I must be able to take it off of the boat for safe storage. External antenae preferred It must track where I have been so I can find my way back if the weather closes in Colour screen preferred There seems to be a plethora of suitable devices out there, and every one of the manufacturers reckon thiers is the best. In your opinion, what is the best one in the

Sound like a scheme m8. I've got the trailer going in to my local metal-sticker-togetherist later this weekto have an extension made for the tow-hitch (to put the boat further away from the vehicle, saves dunking it!) So I'll have him knock one of them docking arm jobbys up too. When its done, I'll take a piccy of the mods and show ya! Ta!

Thanks for your help and advice i will check the parking signs on the road next time i am down that way.Dave

I think I got it wrong!! I'll blame the Gallo Bro's for that. It could possibly be a Seahog Hunter!

This is the sort of thing i need !! ..... whats a docking arm?

Doing it yourself can lead to blindness! However there is no need to constantly tell yourself that you 'realy do love you' afterwards. RESULT!! Any way welcome Sheddy. Where are you from? Boat or not? Do you crew? 'Cos you'll be quite populart if you do. Mad Mike I'm from deepest, darkest essex m8 ... Southend on Sea to be exact. i got me a boat, un-named as yet but the wife reckons I should call it "PUG" 'cos its pug ugly. Is a Seahog Warrior. Its got a 30 ev'ude on the back with a 4 mariner for auxillary. I keep it at Mersea Island in Northish Essex. i've only just started out on this boat fishing malarky so its a case of get whatever info I can! The furthest I've gone out so far is around 8 miles, but ended up coming back in'cos I couldn't find me no fish! I ended up fishing the tail end of a sewage pipe about 400yds offshore! One thing I have learned ... buying a boat is like digging a hole in the sea and throwing a bag of money in!! Oh yeah.... and crew are hard to find on a regular basis, they don't share the enthusiasm! The boats a b****r to launch on my own, retrieval is even harder but it can be done, as long as the sea is flat!

Seeing as I don't know any one and I'm out of area, I thought I'd do it meself!!

GREETINGS ALL, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP ON THIS SUBJECT, CERTAINLY GIVEN ME PLENTY TO THINK ABOUT. I HAVE OWNED 7 BOATS BUT ALL HAVE BEEN DEEP V OR CATHEDRAL HULLS. I HAVE READ DAG PIKE BUT THOUGHT HIS ADVICE DIDN"T COVER SEMI DISPLACEMENT BOATS JUST TRUE PLANING HULLS. ANYWAY PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT THEY SAY, STILL BE NICE TO HEAR FROM A DAY ANGLER OWNER TO PUT MY MIND AT REST AS I BOUGHT THE BOAT FOR FISHING 10-20 MILES OFF, NOT POTTERING ABOUT INSHORE WORRYING ABOUT ONSHORE WINDS WHICH WE GET PLENTY OF ON THIS COAST. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR INPUT. BECKS

HI MIKE,SORRY ABOUT SHOUTING, NEW KEYBOARD COMING THIS WEEK. I WAS FISHING ALONE LAST WEEK WHEN THE WIND GOT UP TO 4-5 NW WHICH IS ONSHORE WHERE I LIVE. WITHIN 10 MINUTES I HAD A NASTY 4FT SEA QUARTERING THE PORT AFT. THE STEERING IS TO STARBOARD SO I MOVED TANKS ECT TO TRY AND BALANCE THINGS UP WITH NO LUCK. SEVERAL TIMES I THOUGHT I WOULD BROACH , JUST MANAGING TO SWING HER BACK. I HAD A VERY SLOW AND HAIRY RIDE HOME. I HAVE TRIM TABS FITTED BUT ONLY USE THEM IN HEAD SEAS. IS THIS NORMAL BEHAVIOR WITH THE DAY ANGLER OR IS THERE ANOTHER APPROACH? CHEERS BECKS

Many thanks guys, more food for thought (if I can still afford to eat after I buy a boat) I am off on holiday this weekend but will return late July to do some serious searching. In the mean time if you see a small orange tender phutting around Bournmouth Bay give us a wave. Many thanks again Neil

I have an Evinrude 15 HP outboard for sale, - long shaft, manual start, tiller controls, together with a workshop manual, and the original "short shaft bits". It has not been used since its last major service in July 2004, and has never been used in salt water. It is in excellent condition. It starts easily and runs like a dream. I have no use for it now and I have been advertising it on the internet for
