Hi Mikey I phoned Sterling when I was planning my dual battery set up a couple of years ago, and asked the same question. For the "low" power requirements we have in our "small" fishing boats, their advice was that it was an expensive overkill in our situation, and to simply use the battery selection switch. I leave my switch in the dual position all the time. Both batteries get charged when the motor is running. BF

Adam I've got Paul D's can o white gel coat with wax. So if Paul doesn't mind you taking some, I could drop it over tomorrow and have a look at the boat. It's a bright white. too bright to match the white on S.O. so I haven't used much. Would probably match your boat, though. BF

Don't you also have to figure in a reserve of 1/3??
