  1. You would need to add some more fuel in Braye, before coming back Sam. Stick to chasing flounders and a very nice hamper son.
  2. Better make it Six , Sam will be cleaning the boat.
  3. One thing for sure Jerry you will catch more flounders in Holes bay than in wiltshire. and to catch a fish your line must be wet. So credit for coming down and giving it a go.
  4. Happy Birthday Neal Have a good evening
  5. I am away, but good to see that Sam is taking up my offer of borrowing the boat to support Big Bobs comp. Is Eileen doing the cooking?

Some of the wrecks look close enough to find them. Although this version of Doris does not zoom in as tight as I remember the old one off of Portland doing.

    Thanks Dave Interesting area around the 50/50 banks [50 37.228W 001 50.50W]
  8. Genuine question Mike, How do you fish a cocktail bait on a 3\0 circle hook? I find it hard to present big baits on them properly without just nicking it on.
  9. Mrs C's Birthday Better not put my name down.
  10. I second that well done all. Especially Mike for winning both comps, better get some chips in mate.

  12. Just a little safety tip for those going out tomorrow, in a forecast a tad worse than today's. I went out for a few hours this afternoon, leaving just after 12, the Easterly breeze and ebb tide were making the swash very sloppy. not nice at all. So bad that I nearly turned the boat around and set off home to watch the rugby. Instead I turned left and went out through the East Loue to have a look on the other side of the hook sands, thankfully it was much better. I fished the banks about 3 miles out from 1.00 to about 4.30 without any stress as the wind and tide were going the same way. The run back in was also no problem as going that way meant the wind was from behind for the run in. While I didn't get any of tomorrows target fish, I did get plenty of whiting and far to many dogs. stay safe tomorrow guys, Tight Lines
  13. unfortunately I will have to drop out as I have lost my crew we are out tonight so I will have a chance to enjoy that a little more, have a great time guys stay safe and catch loads

  16. Have you got the additional rope yet? If not you could get it from Peter at Quay West chandlers at Members discount price, he would also do the splice if you can take the chain along. If you have the rope and it is three strand I could splice it on for you, or again ask Peter The anchor is a major piece of safety equipment so I would push to get this done
  17. Hi again hard to match nice eating fish to your bait whilst limited to the length of your anchor warp There are whiting about that match your bait, and the limit of your travel, but are in deeper water on a breezy day you would struggle to anchor I believe that the plaice are still around by the piers, but these are caught on the drift and need worm baits. so the choices seem to be , extend the anchor warp and open your range, or stop off at one of the local tackle shops and buy some ragworm On tomorrows forecast and with the Mrs onboard I would go for option 2 Hope this helps
  18. Thanks Neal
  19. Hope that you had a great day Oli Happy Birthday mate
  20. Well done Stuie and Greg I hope that someone will lead this forward for 2017.
  21. There is local company van around a lot at work. sidepower is on the van. May be worth a quote. Marty Cobb could also fit the tube.
  22. We beat some 50 to70kg yellow fins on standup 50lb kit last year. Not sure that you should try for the big blues on it

The same leads are available from rolec marine services.
  24. Looks like a nice set up Dave Does the swivel on the chain help? Many boats at work that are rigged this way use the swivel straight to the anchor from chain. But they are not rigged to be tripped. I am not confident in those swivels, so just run my chain to the end on the anchor and trip it with cable ties as Allan does. The down side when it trips is that someone has to re rig it up on the bow. In deeper water we still use an Alderney ring set up.
