  1. Like many of the same, this is just another hoax message designed for - who know's what. See the following: Simon Ashton hoax 1 Simon Ashton hoax 2 Simon Ashton hoax 3 Sorry to rain on you good intentions but these variants are quite a regular feature. Terry.

    Useful Site

However, it is listed as Christchurch so no points for your whinge, I'm afraid. Terry.
  3. I was just checking on what I'd missed. Hurricane Ida stuffed up my plans for fishing. The first week (which was fine and sunny) was spent driving north to visit friends. The second week and a bit was alternately overcast, wet and somewhat windy. Better luck next time. Terry.
  4. This is pretty impressive, although a little American. Hard day at the office It's quite long but worth the wait. Terry.
  5. Thanks for that, Martin. Just caught up as my sister has sodded up her old computer so have just finished installing and configuring a new one for her. Back today and looking at the weather reports, on the whole I think Florida is better, even with the residual effects of Hurricane Ida. Terry.
  6. Thank you for all your good wishes, chaps. Pete, yes, they are hurricane watching as we speak but the chance is low, apparently. Jim, I have done the trip quite a lot having been in the travel business for about 20 years and having family there. Unfortunately, I now have to pay full fare as I can't get the 75% discount any more. As far as alligators are concerned, I've seen enough of them and what they can do to steer clear of anywhere they are. You've probably seen how quickly they can snatch something off the bank; I'm sticking to boats! See you all soon. Terry.

Right you lot, enjoy the next 2
  8. A firefighter was working on the engine outside the station, when he noticed a little girl nearby in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the sides, and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle. The girl was wearing a firefighters helmet. The wagon was being pulled by her dog and her cat. The firefighter walked over to take a closer look.'That sure is a nice fire truck,' the firefighter said with admiration.' Thanks,' the girl replied. The firefighter looked a little closer. The girl had tied the wagon to her dog's collar and to the cat's testicles. 'Little partner,' the firefighter said, 'I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope around the cat's collar, I think you could go faster. The little girl replied thoughtfully, 'You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren.' Terry.
  9. Everyone's a bloody comedian. No one understands the pressures I am under, it's not easy being retired you know. That reminds me, I must get going organising fishing on Friday as well as Wednesday. Terry.
  10. Apologies Derek, it's been a long, stressful day. Terry.
  11. Thank goodness for Pete, I was beginning to think that all the fish had departed for pastures new. And me coming down on Wednesday! And Brian............very funny. I have to say about boot sales though, I don't see the appeal. Terry.
  12. Well, did anyone catch any flat things? Here I am with bated breath as I couldn't make it and everyone's being very coy. Come along, show and tell time. Terry. p.s. BTW Martin, Veronica would be impressed. The reason I'm up at silly o'clock on a Sunday and not going fishing is because I am being taken to a car boot sale. Yes. I know!
  13. I think you'll find that most of us who use Navionics have the Gold or Platinum charts. I think they are great and have used them in two machines so far. I have the UK chart as I travel to other places to fish. Terry.
  14. With my background, I like that a lot; I have sent it to all my German and Austrian friends. Terry.
  15. That's what a lot of us do, Charlie, even some well known members with larger boats. The Lowrance and Garmin sets are easily removed and give a much clearer and more easily followed display. Not a lot of difference in price, either. Terry.

    chain

Yes, about 3.5mtrs. You're welcome. Terry.
  17. I suspect a lot of you will all ready know this but, here goes. I have just done some repairs to the brakes on the trailer and needed a set of brake shoes (1 wheel) and a damper. I was quoted
  18. Les, anyone under 60 is a young maiden to me, and my crew who is older than me. Certainly the best preserved 51 year old I have seen for a long time. It was a pleasure to be of service. By the way, further to our talk about squid, I think it's time to get your jigs out, we had so may of them chasing our baits. Terry.
  19. Had a very pleasant day out from Christchurch on Friday with a new crew who I think will settle in very well. Helps with the diesel costs from home, too. Mackerel were very easily come by, when you know where to look! First cast in the right spot produced a double header of triggers and they continued to oblige with odd bits and bobs mixed in to help the day along. Best surprise was a big squid which was soon followed by others of a similar stamp. Not all were landed but enough to be going on with. With the calm seas and warm sunshine it was great and rounded off with the rescue of an attractive, young, blonde maiden in distress who had managed to break her rowing scull in the river up near the harbour. We returned her to the rowing club, complete with scull none the worse for her experience; only a little cold from her enforced immersion. Terry.
  20. Bathroom, yes, but there is an increased condensation problem with the power shower. Hopefully sorted now. Terry.
  21. Just to finish the thread, fan up and running perfectly. Ta all. Terry.
  22. Thanks for your help, Mick, it was very useful to chat it through with someone who knows what they're talking about. I owe you a pint. Terry.
  23. As in the heading domestic 230 volts ac. Terry.
  24. Is there an electrician in the house? Just a chance as I'm in need of advice with wiring an in-line extractor fan through a 3 pole isolator switch. Anyone able to help? Terry.
  25. ...........and that flags up the first part of your learning curve; join the Club! It will be the best investment in education you will make and a seemingly bottomless data base. Terry.
