Ok folks, it is looking good for Sunday. Thanks for the heads up Rich. You are right, 12' deep in shingle. So plan B is the slip way next to the Still & West Pub in Portsmouth. PO1 2JL (Bath Square) This is on Portsmouth Harbour entrance and just adds a couple of miles onto the boat trip to Utopia. That this moment I am uncertain on charges etc so I will continue to investigate and re-post. If anyone can help with advice on parking etc etc please ring or post. (07801146799) The meeting at Rownhams is still the same, looking at leaving by 6.30am should get us to the slip for 7.15am ish. The met office is reasonable and my contact at the Southsea AC feels we should be comfortable and they would only consider cancelling if it was going to move up to a 6. As a contingency we have a few general marks if things do blow up Any late comers still more than welcome just give me a call to let us know.

I had a small bump in the car today and a rather angry midget got out of the other car and I said "are you alright?" he replyed "I am not bloody happy", so I said "well which one are you then"

Anglers Obsession With Top Speed Goes Too Far
Manic Moore replied to Afishionado's topic in Boat Talk
Does that mean if it sinks nobody will be able to find it as it wont show up on the sounder -
Sorry folks and thanks Paul, I've been that busy at work this week I am dissapearing up my own ......... Timings are correct. Simon, if we could find some where to keep your boat you are welcome to a bed at my gaff on saturday night Lets hope that weather has a break by then

Thanks Adam, good company as usual. My day was not looking good as by 1.00pm the score was 7 v 1 to Adam and I had lost 4 lots of gear as Adam was not just happy to thrash the skipper (which seems par for the course this season , If it carries on like this I will have a list of members wanting to crew for the Open) but proceeded to steer his fish through all the lines and cut a few off So a nice bonus to sneak the top fish of the day and the new club record to boot. Your right Adam, they put up a fantastic fight so I am definately looking forward to the Utopia trail away. All in all wet and windy but worth the trip Gordon

Both my light multiplyers are left hookers. I use for all fishing under 30lb class. Then as I'm right handed I have sensitive control with my best hand. Carol will be used to them in no time but just more difficult to cast Good luck G

I've been doing some research over the last few days and the medium to slow tides are week endings 8th July, 22nd and 29th. I would suggest we set the 8th as our first date and if the weather gets in the way then 22nd etc I have been in touch with the Southsea Anlgling club and I am waiting for their boat secretary to ring me next week. This may provide buddy boats and possibly a Burnham style competition for the day and some support with the slip way etc. I would like to suggest we start a list of those interested in giving this trip a try At the moment Enticer - Gordon and Will Summerill our new member is interested in the trip Adam and Trevor on OOTB ? Neo with Paul and ?

You are right, also people start to need a boat that does more eg cabin for comfort, tool shed for the wife, bigger for off shore etc

1) Commenting on a complaint from a Mr. Arthur Purdey about a large gas bill, a spokesman for North West Gas said, "We agree it was rather high for the time of year. It's possible Mr. Purdey has been charged for the gas used up during the explosion that destroyed his house." (The Daily Telegraph) 2) Police reveal that a woman arrested for shoplifting had a whole salami in her underwear. When asked why, she said it was because she was missing her Italian boyfriend. (The Manchester Evening News) 3) Irish police are being handicapped in a search for a stolen van, because they cannot issue a description. It's a Special Branch vehicle and they don't want the public to know what it looks like. (The Guardian) 4) A young girl who was blown out to sea on a set of inflatable teeth was rescued by a man on an inflatable lobster. A coast guard spokesman commented, "This sort of thing is all too common". (The Times) 5) At the height of the gale, the harbourmaster radioed a coastguard and asked him to estimate the wind speed. He replied he was sorry, but he didn't have a gauge. However, if it was any help, the wind had just blown his Land Rover off the cliff. ( Aberdeen Evening Express)

Phil Have a look at Boats and Outboards, click on fishing boats then type in warrior into key word, there are 4 pages of warriors, with many appearing better value than the one you are considering Good luck Gordon
-
Not sure what your budget is but this one is far better value and only 1500 more (would prob take 12000) http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F149230/

What about; twin batteries, rod holders, anchor, chain, warp, fenders, bow lines, bilge pump. The engine looks about right for 4 years old. But paul is right, resale for that engine I imagine would be hardly

Happy 40th for last week CC

I think you are right to be concerned. With an imaculate boat and and old looking engine, you need to be wary that they haven't wisked off the original engine and replaced with something off a work boat. Even a busy private boat would have only done 100 hours per year. If it looks older than the boat it probably is.
-
Well now I think that requires some debate..........

As an owner of a 165 with a 75 Etec, I believe in that class of boat it is hard to beat. Adams 165 had a 60, 4 stroke, the added weight certainly slowed it down and although a top speed of 23 knots is fine the power to wieght mean't it was sluggish out of the hole. The 60 2 stroke is a good combo but you have to consider fuel economy against how much you are going to pay for the outfit. I wouldn't consider it over

Back to the serious stuff now folks. The plan so far Gordon Holt and Gordon Moore on Enticer on baiter slip for 6.30am Adam and Alun J, on OOTB, you blokes will have to arrange to meet so you don't have to park 2 cars at baiter at 6.30am Our new member Will Summerill and mate Trev on their Karnic 2250 (sorry Will couldn't remember her name) to meet up at Lilliput at abot 7.00am We are practically a trail away Anyone else want to join the intrepid trio?
-
Adam and I are looking to organise a trip on Saturday of the comp to go to the Rips. At the moment we need 2 boats to go for buddy purposes so both of us need crew, or if we had another boat that wanted to make the trip, I would buddy with Adam. I will be at the meeting tonight or give me a call as on Friday night I will be out as well
-
Enticer will be out all 3 days if possible so will be looking for crew or will crew I don't mind as long as I get a decent crack at a good specimen. Think Adam might be on for one day.

Also Charlie, avoid the ones with a numeric key pad on the hand set as I find that I am always changing channels when I grab the hand set
