  1. Lots of how to fit but where do they come from? Is there only one supplier and one price?
  2. As I like a bigger fight than a sole or two, I fancy 2 or 3 hours on the ledge to see if I can hook a few congers. Anyone fancy crewing on Friday night. Probably launch about 6 ish, feather up some macey then settle on the ledge for the bottom of the tide and depending on how things go head back 11 ish. I have lights etc so just bring a couple of thick rods
  3. Adam Are we going Friday? I fancy a bit of conger hauling off the ledge rather than trying for you few small flatties?
  4. Charlie I spent a few years in the tyre trade (I even have a city & guilds certificate in cars and light commercial tyre fitting ) You are right about the heavy trailer requiring stronger tyres (same wieght as your car but on only 2 wheels) so van tryes would be the ideal choice but if you only ever do the short local trips you are never going to put the kind of stress on a modern car tyre that would cause it to fail. (don't buy remoulds) The size you have 155 x70 x12 is a low profile tyre, the 70 is the percentage of the full hieght so a 155 x 12 will be fine and you will probably find were the original tyre size and will certainly be cheaper. Again, shop around which ever tyre you choose and you will find the small independents are more than likely to haggle than the big chains Good Luck Gordon
  5. Not a good day on Enticer. I took out an old friend and customer. I decided to go from Lymington and try fot the smoothies but as the weather seemed reasonable headed for the bass although that horrible short chop that rattles your boat to the core. We got to the island just as the tide started to flood although the wind was certainly pushing us accross at a rate of knots. We could not buy a bite We stuck at it for a good couple of hours or so and my mate had a take on a free line offering but got away. We decided to spend the last couple of hours of the tide anchored up for the smoothies in the Solent but unfortunately the weed was on the hook far quicker than the fish. We squeeked a bream each then the wind really got up and was howling down the Solent at probably 4 to 5 and a few hundred sail boats heading our way saw us limp back to the harbour at about 8 knots. I think I need a proper bass lesson from the masters on Aquafresh Anyway, still enjoyed the day out mastering my new ship

Well I have found my ideal boat and I am now the official new owner of Enticer, and I am more excited than a dog with 2 lots of dangly bits to clean. Out for a test run tomorrow morning with Adam (guess whos swabbing decks ) Then if the weather holds out mark and I will be fishing the species comp on Sunday

It will be be on B&O and Ebay Now Cushdy has gone and probably not looking to replace in the imediate future, I am selling my plotter. 10. Les answered my wimpering and pleading for a trip out on Saturday. Weather forcast wasn't looking great so we posponed a 6.00am start until 9.30 just to get a better feel how the weather was going to set in (and I was out on the town last night and only had about 3 hours sleep ) and we crept over the bar just before 10.00am. Well descretion was the better part of valour and we decided not to venture out too far and once we had a few joeys from Les's secret Joey mark we drifted free line macy accross the ledge along with half a dozen assorted boats. We did see a member but did not remember or recognise (sorry). Anyway while the tide was running hard and was making headway against the force 5 I had the first Bass over the side, a nice 6lb fish that Les is probably cooking on the barby right now. Next drift saw a better fish which took the scales to 9lb 8oz and went back to fight another day. I was feeling really guilty now, not only did I have two fish on board but I had also eaten all Les's sandwichs and drank half his water because I hadn't been organised. Thanks for a great day out Les, I enjoyed the day on Manatee PS sorry to those rowers I carved up in the harbour PS again Dam, I left my lucky hat at home

  15. Paul Would you wear it the next time we are on the species comp as I could do with a win for a change
  16. Not certain how I got away with it but I got to go out Sat & Sun Sat out with Alun J. We wanted to sample the Bass fishing that everyone has been at. It was a quiet day, mainly due to only being able to catch Tune size Maci. Alun managed to winkle out a couple as you would expect and yours truely got his first double and a very nice 11LB bass went back to fight another day . We got back in time to watch that great football match Sunday saw Adam and I out of Mudeford at 5.30am and out to the Rips. Despite a slow start and a few small codling Martin and Dean showed us the way and by the end of the day we had boated 15 cod to Adams 20Lb 6 oz cracker. Great day and I just had 2 large fillets battered for tea Not a bad weekend

  20. Well we had a great time in the keys with the fishing early or late and shopping for the FPO during the day. 80 degrees + every day made it a little on the hot side for fishing but I stuck at it , usually late at night or very early in the morning. On reflection I would say the fishing further up the coast towards Fort Myers is a little easier as more beach areas are available and in the keys most people are geared up to fish from boats. Well once I got the right tides and bait the fish started to come, with a few small snappers, a Lady Fish of about 5lb, which was very exciting and acrobatic at 1am in the morning. While on the gulf side for a few days I had a steady stream of small Barracuda to 5lb and a bonus sting ray of about 15lb. In the process loosing a number of reel churning biggies on my small
  21. Got out today for the first fishing of the hols. A 3lb barracuda my first, and you know the one about the big one that got away, well it was and it did. The hook came away, probably a good thing as I was running out of line a bit quick. The big ones are always on the small rods. See you back in blighty in a week or so.
  22. I knew there was something dodgey going on in that warrior

  24. Of you regular USA visitors, where's the best place to go for discount tackle? Rich, I know you bring a few bits back, where do you shop?
  25. Well everyone, I'm off to the keys for a couple of weeks from Wednesday, to try and repeat my last Florida trip when I bagged a few rays and jacks off the beach. Want to have a go at the shark fishing on the flats. Anyway weather at least will be warm See you in June
