Caught 9.30 bridge lift, by time got to poole outer patch it was packed, drifted for an hour and caught nothing. We saw what we thought were 2 dolphin but did not seem to behave the same and did not have dorsel fins but a hump, and were black. The boat began to rock even though it was calm. Did anyone else see the "dolphins". or did we imagine them. Then went over to Christchurch Ledge, and finally caught first fish of the year a garfish just under 2ft don't have any scales so couldn't weigh it. Unfortunatey my father still hasn't caught anything, perhaps he will next time. many thanks for tour help my luck has finally turned

Many thanks for the advice, hope to catch the 9.30 poole bridge lift with the old man tomorrow. Will let you know how we get on. Looks like a good club to join so have sent a mail to Martin. Would post a picture of the boaton but not sure how. Many thanks Glen

Bought a Shetland black Marlin just before Christmas, have been out several times this year and caught b@gg@r all. I don't mind so much but my 80 year old dad who had a strokelast year, for some unknown reason does, I didn't know he knew so many swear words. If I came out with half the stuff he does I would have had a slap round the head and my mouth washed out with soap. I must be going to the wrong places, using the wrong bait, and perhaps the wrong tackle, can anyone out there give me a hand and let me know the secrets of where to go. Any help will be gratefully received, so I can at least shut him up for a while or blame someone else for going to the wrong place. The boat is based at Cobbs Quay, and only does about 8 knots with a following tide. Many thanks New comer

hi all im having a bit of a problem with my electrics i have taken out all my electrics and am going to replace the whole system. im going to tell you my idea for replaceing the lot and wuld like to no if this is good or bad and of course safe so here goes. im want to run my bilge pump, 3 sets of running lights, small light in cabin, spot light on deck, vhf, fish finder, i am currently waiting for a answer from mariner to tell me if my 40hp outboard has a alternator or not. the way i want to connect all this is engine to battery then cut out switch, on to a fused switch board. and switch board out to lights etc etc is this a good idea ??? is it safe??? what do you guys think??? thanks james.

Hi. Ring on 01258 858784, Propeller Solutions. A 4 blade may not be the best option, but please call to talk. We should be able to sort out the best option for you. Also, prop guard for what? We can get prop guards for outboards.

I need to get the prop guard to protect the prop really not so mush for safety.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all hope everyones ok. Not been logged on for a while been really busy with wor and all that. I need to replace the prop on my Suziki 70HP outboard for my Warrior 165. At the moment we have a 3 blade 17" on there and are going to change it for a Stainless steel type. but can anyone tell me if i would be able to use a 4 blade instead of 3 and would it give me more power if i did. Also while i am on the subject of props my mate who has an Avor 215as down at Thurrock has just taken his out the water after the first year and found that all the Anodes have gone which has ment that the prop has taken their place and as a result it has become very weak and part of it has broke of. I found out that the one on there is a Magnesium Ally bronze which is really cheap metal for props and that this type of prop is not ment to do above 14 knots. Have spoken to a few companies one of which we have ordered a new prop and the new prop type is a Nickel Ally Bronze which is ment to be much stronger. So we have replaced the anodes and checked they are connected to ground/earth and are waiting on our new prop. But someone tells me at the club to get a propeller guard for when we fit the new prop. I have searched the net and all i can find is rope/debis cutter for props. Can anyone tell me if there is anything different Thanks Paul

Gnasher, Where abouts is the free parking at Keyhaven? I parked in the car park behing the boat yard / club house and that's pay and display, or do you get a car park pass when you pay for a years launch pass? Mark

Point taken and fair comment. Lightening as we speak!
-
[Mike, i know it seems a bit anal] Yes it does a bit. Come on lads, lighten up! It was a light hearted joke and a good one inteneded to raise a smile for the rest of us. As an outsider, I enjoy mikes sometimes outrageous and often intentionally controversial posts, they add a bit of spice to an otherwise dull day. Lets not become overly PC even though Mike is sometimes as subtle as an unlubricated shaft hammer and may be telling a teeny weeny porkie about there being no copyright on the snapshot, when (whoops, I didn't see that - honest!) the web site terms clearly say there is - yellow card for that one Mike! Just like Herr Mosley ("Ja ich dicked sieben frauen hookeren aber ich sprachen keinen nazi kommendanten, so was is der problem johann") U Tube kind of blows it apart and are you seriously suggesting that the copyright owner has Messrs Carter Ruck on retention with thunderbolt writs ready to launch after trawling through every tiny website for miscreants? Guilty as charged but who is going to in practice. I only reply cos i think editing mike's post as done, was a touch zealous although I do agree the opposing points were all well made and technically correct. With you on this one Mike. Sorry lads. Up the revolution Wolfie! (For those under 50, this has nothing to do with cars or Wolves - its Tooting) Finally, back to jokes, how many french troops does it take to defend Paris successfully? Nobody knows, its never been done!! French DEFCOM Defcom 5: run, Defcom4: Hide, Defcom 3: Negotiate, Defcom 2: surrender, Defcom 1: collaberate. Don't we just love our Francophile brethren.

Picked it up today, feel poor now It was the whole fuel pump including vapour seperator Engine readout makes interesting reading, it has 124 hours on it. Talked to the engineer and he stripped the old pump and said there was no water damage, was drawing current, but could not be stripped down any further as it was a sealed unit... Taking it out breaming tomorrow and Friday Fingers crossed
-
Gordon, Thanks for that info. I am very pleased with the engine, perfect for my usage, and have found it extremely responsive , apart from the obvious I will report back here on the pump failure prognosis... Dale

I have noticed a few on here have ETECs. Mine is currently being repaired and serviced. Last time out mine let me down, but luckily managed to get a tow to the slip. It turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump (electical, injector pump) failed... It has been serviced (first, 3 years) at the same time, and have been warned that I will not see much change from

Drove past Bournemouth Cemetary today and saw four men running around with a coffin on their shoulders. Two hours later drove past again and they were still there, still running around. Guess they must have lost the plot

hi all i have a 40 hp mariner on the back of my beast. i am looking at the possibility of fitting an electric start to it can this be done ?????? i have 5 wires coming out of the engine in two positions one bundle of 3 and the other 2. im guessing the bundle of 2 are for the battery from the alternator?? and the other 3 are for an electric start ??? is this right or am i barking up the wrong tree. if i am right i would like to run my bilge pump, nav lights, internal light and vhf off a standard car battery can i do this or is it a no no with car battery and get told off by mike fox for not being safe. cheers guys

Just saying hi... Found this place after a review in one of the fishing mags...me and a mate have a white shark 205 running out of cobbs, and have been having stabs at fishing/blanking around on marks locally when we can. Looking forward to perhaps joining up and gleaming some technique, and pushing further afield than Poole Rocks... Cheers Rob
